A Pigeon Pair: Sweetheart, Let's Get Married novel Chapter 25

Maverick didn't take a sip.

However, Everly drank quite a lot.

She had a vague impression that she was drunk, but she still kept a clear head.

When another glass of wine was handed to her, Everly felt that something was blocking her throat, very uncomfortable.

She knew that if she drank it, she would definitely be drunk.

In the blink of an eye, a thick palm grabbed the glass.

In fact, Everly thought she was drunk since she couldn't see it clearly.

However, she felt that she was sober, because she heard Maverick say. " ... She was drunk."

His words were simple and short. Maybe because she was drunk, she heard something else from his words.

There was something defensive and somewhat angry.

Everly shook her head.

She thought that she was so drunk that she could not think properly.

Previously, she really felt that her head was at least clear, but Everly had left the country for five years. She really didn't know how powerful this kind of wine was.

She couldn't hold on any longer, and her stomach was churning.

Later, she realized something. She felt that Maverick, this bastard, had brought her here in order to take revenge, right?

He wanted them to get her drunk.

Bastard! Fraud!

She snorted. She became weak and more and more unconscious. Then, she did not know whether she had said anything or not.

However, she did not know that the man closest to her had heard it.

Her head was on her hands, her cheeks were red, and she was pouting slightly. She was muttering something, and the entire room was noisy.

Maverick looked at her watery eyes, which looked even more confused because of the alcohol.

His heart skipped a beat, and he lowered his head uncontrollably.

" ... Maverick, bad...."

Those words seemed to carry great magic power, and they were like some kind of anesthetic medicine. The moment they entered his ears, the man's body stiffened subconsciously.

He knew that he was clearly trembling.

Bad?

Why was he bad?

He quietly licked his alveolus, and his eyes were more than dark in an instant.

"Mr. Maverick's secretary can drink well. She has already finished off half of the bottle."

Someone suddenly said at the banquet.

Maverick straightened his back, with his fingers still clasping onto the rim of the glass. Hearing this, he paused for a moment. His voice did not carry any emotion. "I brought her here to see more of the world. This is Hendrix's sister. You guys just got her drink too much."

As soon as he said that, the others were surprised.

Hendrix's sister?

Did Hendrix have a sister?

None of them knew.

However, the most important thing right now was not about Hendrix. Rather, they could tell that Maverick seemed to be blaming them.

Everyone at this table seemed to be trying to figure out what this unusual young man was thinking.

Originally, they all felt that she must be someone important to Maverick since he took her here.

They put out feelers and found they could toast her.

At the table, Maverick seemed to have some physical contact with her. After all, he was a man. Everyone understood that. So they toasted her a few more times.

This woman could drink a lot, and she was straightforward and not shy, so she got drunk soon.

But now, Maverick seemed to be quite protective.

Someone said boldly. "Everyone is overjoyed today, but Mr. Maverick, you don't usually bring any women with you. When did you change to a female secretary?"

"Her talent is definitely not with drinking." Maverick said in the same tone.

That person was out of words, feeling a little embarrassed. He took a sip.

Another person smiled and said. "I saw Jenson and his daughter a few days ago. By the way, Maverick, you really don't intend to work with Jenson on that piece of land?"

Maverick raised an eyebrow. "Business is business. You should all know how I am with business."

Everyone had an answer in their mind, so they didn't say anything else.

After another few cups, Maverick finished a cigarette and finally stood up.

The people at the table noticed it and stood up.

Maverick picked up his coat and bent down. He patted Everly's face gently. Seeing that she was confused, he asked gently. "Can you still walk?"

Maybe she heard him, and maybe not. She stretched out her leg and kicked on the foot of the table. Then, she let out a loud cry.

Before everyone could react, she stood up heroically. She looked like a king in the mountains and patrolled around. Finally, she looked at the face of the man beside her.

Well, he was so handsome. That was him.

Therefore, Everly stretched out her finger and tapped the tip of Maverick's nose. She couldn't help but burp again.

"Little Maverick, bend over and help me walk."

! ! !

....

The room fell into dead silence.
