A Pigeon Pair: Sweetheart, Let's Get Married novel Chapter 46

Beth told Everly that the company had an online forum.

So when she was on her way to the airport, she took out her phone to search it.

The post at the top was really glaring.

The title read: What Sets a Female Secretary Apart from a Male Assistant? Check out This Bitch at Lamont Group!

She had a hunch that this post should be the one Beth had mentioned.

She clicked it.

After a seconds of network delay, a few photos popped up.

Everly swiped the screen, wide-eyed. She nearly let the phone slip from her hand.

'Isn't that me adjusting Maverick's tie?'

She could not believe that pictures of her and Maverick had been taken when he put her on the cabinet. Of course, mosaic was added on their faces, but that could never make things better.

It was her and Maverick.

She scrolled down. Most of the comments were attacks against her.

Moreover, these people were really resourceful. They dug up her background.

Some guys even gave a vivid and elaborate account of her relationship with Lucas.

However, Lamont Group was headquartered in City B. Therefore, many University C graduates chose to work here. As soon as a topic like this came up, they would come to comment under anonymity.

The forum of this kind of company was used by the employees to ease pressure from work, where they can gossip or simply chitchat.

That explained why many people were anonymous, and she did not know who they were. Anyway, the comments were grossly snarky.

Since Lucas was her ex, the way those trolls talked about her was like she had committed incest.

She couldn't bear to see more after reading dozens of the comments. Nobody can be immune to such vilification. She felt hurt.

What the hell?

'Are those guys idle nuts? Even though I seemed indecent in those pictures, they can't give such hurtful speeches.'

Everly had never encountered such kind of things when she was in the United States.

She had the urge several times to register another account and argue with them. However, on second thought, this might be what they wanted--to make her angry. They would be overjoyed to see her getting enraged.

In the end, she looked terrible when she arrived at the airport as she did not rest well and was pissed off by this shit early in the morning.

The good news was that Jayden would be around on this business trip.

Everly didn't know where they were going, so she entrusted her ID card to Jayden so that he could her get the air ticket.

She didn't see Maverick. And she hadn't eaten much that day, so she found a place to take a bite.

It was about five o'clock when Maverick arrived.

Everly was sitting in a chair with coffee in her hands after she filled her belly with food. She had got dark circles and was in low spirits. When a dark shadow enveloped her, she did not notice that and was about to yawn.

It was when she opened her mouth really big that she saw Maverick standing in front of her.

Contrary to her low spirits, Mr. Maverick looked great. Maybe because he got up early, it looked even chillier between his eyebrows.

And at the moment, he was looking down at her.

She froze there for a second, and her hand holding the coffee gave a sudden jerk, and then she quickly shut her mouth.

In front of the opposite sex, women would, more or less, try to look good.

"Good morning, Mr. Maverick." She stood up.

Although she was told to take the business trip on such a short notice and the departure time was so early,

Everly did not complain as it was her job.
