Don't Try to Escape, My Wife! novel Chapter 1443

"Laurence!"

Frustrated she was, Cara wanted to bite his head off.

"Hurry up and start training," Laurence said as if nothing happened.

"You are their captain."

"People will talk if I get too intimated with a group of young females."

Laurence left directly, leaving Cara stood there frozen in shock.

What did he mean by "too intimated"?

Why did he ask her to wash his underwear? How could people get more intimate than that?

Cara wanted to drag him back for some explaining, yet she had to suck it up and follow his order with all eyes on her.

As the remaining female students watched Laurence and Cara interacting, they had reached some sort of conclusion simultaneously. Yareli was expelled for disrespecting Cara. There was no way they would throw their future away at a moment of jealousy like Yareli after working so hard to enter the Night Elf Empire.

"Miss Clint, start our training, please. We want to learn about the move you just made. It seems like a difficult move to pull off."

As one of the female students spoke up, the others naturally followed suit.

Being put on the spot, Cara had no choice but to train them.

An amused smile crept across Laurence's lips as he observed the girls' training session from afar.

Ernesto walked in at the moment. Following Laurence's line of sight, he was perplexed at the sight of Cara.

"What is Miss Clint doing here?"

"I invited her. Is there a problem?"

Laurence said indifferently, yet Ernesto detected a hint of hostility.

He didn't say something out of the line, did he?

"Nothing. Mrs. Green asked me to bring over the photo of the man who would have a blind date with Miss Clint tomorrow and ask about her opinion. If she agrees, Mrs. Green will arrange it."

Ernesto replied without thinking.

Laurence's eyes darkened.

A blind date?

Was Cara actually going on a blind date?

"Leave it to me. She is currently training the female students."

Laurence extended his hand towards Ernesto.

Ernesto was slightly stunned.

"Since when did you two get along so well? And why is Cara training the female students? Isn't that your responsibility?"

"You talk too much."

Laurence grabbed the photo from Ernesto's hand and looked at it.

The man in the photo was quite polished, wearing a pair of gold-rimmed spectacles and looking refined.

"What does he do?"

"It is said that he is a manager with an adequate salary with no scandals. He's 28 this year and never has a girlfriend."

Ernesto repeated the information he had gotten from Nicole.

Laurence immediately retorted, "There must be something wrong with him, being a 28-years-old, yet never has a romantic relationship."

"He's a workaholic. Since graduated from university, it has been all work and no play for him. And he's ready to settle down as he's in a good place now. He is quite a good catch I say."

"What if he plays for the other team?"

Laurence's words left Ernesto speechless.

"Holy shit, did you meet him before, or did he offend you somehow? Why are you being so mean to him? Heaven forbids a 28-years-old who has no girl in his arm. That means he bats for the other side. Give that photo back. I'll personally give it to Cara."

As Ernesto reached for the photo, Laurence put it in his own pocket and said, "I'll give it to her later. It's time for you to leave. No outsiders are allowed in the Night Elf Empire Training Base."

"Outsiders? Isn't Cara an outsider too? What makes her so different?"

"The fact that she can bear a child. You are welcome to stay if you can too."

Laurence's answer shut Ernesto up.

Well, he certainly lacked the right equipment.

After getting rid of Ernesto, Laurence took out the photo and examined it again. With a handsome face like that, still, the man needed a blind date to get a wife. What a wussy.

He sulked at his own thought.

"Five kilometers of weight-bearing run for everyone. No rest before finishing!"

The male students wailed at his command.

Cara and the female students heard the order as well, yet none of them thought it was directed at them. As Cara continued her lesson, Laurence shouted, "It’s for the female students too, including you, Cara."

Everyone was stunned at the reveal, and the girls' faces paled with dread.

Cara felt cheated.

She just returned from special training on the isolated island. Before she could catch a breath, Laurence had conned her into coming here. What happened to his "just helping"? Why does she have to partake in five kilometers of weight-bearing run?

"I don’t belong to Night Elf Empire."

"Don't forget that you had lost to Yareli. That's five more kilometers for you as punishment."

Hearing Laurence's ruthless words, Cara was exasperated.

Ten kilometers?

Did he want her paralyzed?

Cara suddenly had a good grasp on Laurence's threat about losing.

There was no way she could sleep soundly after running 10 kilometers.

She did not see that coming; that was for sure.

"I won't run. I'm not one of your soldiers."

"What did you say?"

Laurence walked over to Cara in long strides. His dangerous aura and intimidating height gave Cara great pressure.

She instinctively took a step back.

"I said I'm not your soldier."

Laurence was in front of her as she finished her words. Cara subconsciously retreated again, almost tripping over herself. In that critical moment, Laurence caught her with arms around her waist. Cara was hit by a good smell immediately.

"I dare you to say it again."

Laurence didn't raise or lower his voice, but his words were laced with threat and intimidation.

For some reason, Cara was scared.

Somehow, she wouldn't get the "I won't run" out of her mouth, they were clogged in the back of her throat.

She could feel every breath he took given their proximity. Her heart pounded at the soaped scent.

Laurence's eyes were like a deep ocean, she had gotten lost in it, unable to raise her head above water for a breather.

"Hurry up and lead your team to run!"

Laurence frowned slightly and gave Cara a spank before tossing a sandbag to her.

"Shall I tie it up for you?"

"No."

Cara fled the scene without further ado.

What a joke!

There was no way she would give him the chance to torture her some more.

Cara tied up the sandbag resignedly.

Laurence glanced at the other dumbfounded female students and said coldly, "What are you looking at? The instructor has already tied up her sandbag. What are you guys still waiting for?"

All kinds of wails broke out at once. The female students had no choice but to start running.

Cara called herself stupid as she set off. Why was she being so obedient as she claimed she wasn't his soldier?

She turned around as Laurence directly hopped into the jeep. He was taking the car to supervise them.

Holy shit!

He was driving while they were running?

Why on earth did she come here to be tortured?

It seemed that every time Laurence was involved, she would lose the capacity for thinking for some unknown reason.

Whenever Cara was about to snap, Laurence would nonchalantly say, "When the belt was on the plane, I...?"

Cara would give him a death stare, daring him to continue.

Laurence thought that look was purely adorable.

It certainly beat her formal pathetic self. That Cara could only follow his orders blindly.

Cara had no idea how she survived the run. They all ran together at the beginning, and people gradually separated as they ran. She was the only one left in the end, Laurence counted the kilometers trailing behind.

She would have an urge to slap him occasionally, yet she never followed through. Somehow Laurence had planted a deep fear in her.

At last, the run was finished and Cara came close to collapsing. She was about to fall. A pair of strong arms caught her securely. She was surrounded by the good smell once again.

"Take a bath and sleep when you come back. By the way, this is from Mrs. Green. Tomorrow morning at 7:30 in Blue Mountain Cafe."

Laurence casually slipped that photo into her hand.

Cara was so tired that she only faintly noticed Laurence's mouth opening and closing without registering his words.

As Laurence carried her, Cara was too exhausted to protest.

She did not know how she got back nor how she took a bath. She was placed in the bathtub with her clothes on after someone running water and adding essential oil in the tub.

Cara didn't have the strength to protest. She was soaked, lying in the bathtub. She was relaxed completely. Her eyes began to drop as the essential oil relieved her exhaustion.

She had no idea when she had fallen asleep nor who had pulled her out of the bathtub. Her helper had changed her clothes and put her under the cover before closing the door on his way out.

Cara slept comfortably with no interruption. She was awakened by hunger.

She was dazed by the blinding sunlight.

She stretched out her arm to block it before glancing at the clock on the bedside table. It was ten o'clock.

Cara stretched lazily and got out of bed to wash up. She almost couldn't feel her legs. They were extremely heavy and sour.

She left the room after freshening up.

The servant paused at the sight of Cara before smiling, "Miss Clint, are you feeling better? Captain Kent told us to prepare porridge for you. He said you should have some after you wake up."

"Thank you. I slept quite well last night."

Cara smiled faintly as the servant said, "Of course, you've been sleeping since yesterday afternoon. It's almost noon now, I'm sure you had quite a good sleep."

"What are you talking about?"

Cara was rooted to the spot.

She suddenly remembered that it was noon yesterday when she went to Night Elf Empire. It was ten o'clock. So, it was either ten o'clock in the evening or ten o'clock in the morning the next day. With the sun shining brightly, it could only be ten o'clock in the morning.

She actually slept for so long?

Cara was shocked beyond words.

The servant glanced at her and said, "Mrs. Green wanted you in her room after you woke up. She had arranged a blind date for you yesterday, and it should be at half-past seven this morning. We tried waking you up, yet you had missed the date. Mrs. Green seems a little unhappy."

Cara was taken aback.

A blind date?

At 7:30 this morning?

She had never heard any of these before.

So, she missed a blind date arranged by Nicole because of her tiredness. Her exhaustion was caused by an absurd ten kilometers weight-bearing run which Laurence.

As she was trying to make sense of the entire event, Laurence walked in from outside. Cara's expression immediately darkened.

"Laurence, did you deliberately sabotage my blind date yesterday?"
