Victoria felt better from the small talk she had with Maggie.

Maximilian looked around. He noticed everyone around wore plain clothes. Some of them came from suburban area. They must be friends in the neighborhood nearby.

Tommy and Alfie walked toward them. They were looking for Maggie and tried to bring her back to the banquet hall. What’s more, they wanted to humiliate Maximilian and Victoria again.

Tommy arrived first. He squinted at Maximilian and slapped him on the shoulder.

“Loser, what are you looking at? Look at you! You are like a countryman. You make us lose face. Why would grandpa have you, a loser, as his grandson-in-law? Victoria, how senseless you are to marry a man like him!”

Alfie then arrived, too. He said rudely, “It is lucky for you to be able to sit on the table, isn’t it? But I believe sitting inside the hog lot to eat leftover suits you the most.”

Maggie frowned and said, “You two just go too far. You have been rude enough to Maximilian. Are you trying to humiliate him to death?”

Alfie looked at Maggie disdainfully, “Are you insane after reading so many books? Why would you defend a loser? A loser like him was born to be taunted.”

“Your conclusion is very precise. A loser’s existence is of no value except for being sneered at. His meaning of living is to be mocked by us for fun. Am I right, Sister Victoria? I believe you keep him for the same reason, aren’t you? Ah ha ha!” said Tommy while slapping Maximilian heavily on the shoulder. Maximilian clenched his teeth without saying a word, bearing the pain in silence.

Victoria was so angry that she clenched her teeth and asked furiously, “What do you want? To what extent do you intend to bully him?”

“Bully? Don’t you feel ashamed for saying that? Victoria, you used to pretend to be a decent girl and we were fine with it. But now that you have married a loser, what the heck are you pretending for? I have heard that you have slept with other men for contracts.”

“You are talking nonsense.” Victoria’s eyes filled with tears. Maggie held Victoria’s arm and glared at Alfie.

Maximilian’s eyes became reddish. He was okay for being insulted in whatever way. But he absolutely can't watch Victoria being taunted and did nothing.

Furious, Maximilian ran to Alfie and slapped him on the face.

The clear and loud slapping sound silences the outdoor hall instantly. Everyone was looking at Maximilian and Alfie with surprise.

Few people in the hall knew Maximilian, but most of them knew Alfie. Seeing Alfie be slapped, everyone gasped.

“Who is he? How dare he hit the second son of Hugo’s first son? He is bold though.”

“Is he the enemy of the Wright family who came for revenge? It has never been heard that the Wright family has enemies. There must be a scene to see in Hugo’s birthday party.”

“Hugo’s second grandson was hit before the party had started. It was the face that his grandson was hit on. It was almost the same as Hugo’s face was hit on.”

After a while, the clamour in the outdoor hall grew louder. Spectators became more and more excited in discussing what was happening.

Alfie was astounded for a second, then he felt that his slapped face hurt extremely. Humiliation and anger suddenly burst out inside him.

“How dare a loser like you hit me?” Alfie scowled at Maximilian and pointed at him with great strength.
