Alexander frowned slightly when he saw her looking terrified at him. He didn’t expect her to have such a big reaction.

Alexander raised his eyebrow, “This is my house, why can’t I be here?”

As he said, he bent down to pick up the document on the floor and then realized what she was doing after seeing the title on the document.

“I … I don’t mean that.” Allison started to blush, “it’s just that you appeared too suddenly and startled me.”

Alexander placed the document on the table and saw her terrified expression and started to laugh, “Are you so timid?”

Allison paused and said shyly, “I… I’m indeed timid and frighten easily.”

“Then I’ll take note of that in the future.” Alexander grinned, “How is your work? Have you resolved it? Do you need my help?”

Allison was stunned and reacted only after she saw Alexander pointing towards the document with his chin.

“No need.” She shook her head, “I want to do this by myself and to use this opportunity to prove myself.”

She knew full well that with one word from Alexander he could very well resolve what she was struggling with. But she wanted to prove her abilities.

Alexander was pleased with her determination and smiled in admiration. He said softly, “As you wish.”

After several seconds, he became stern again and said softly, “I came to tell you something. I’ll take you to the old residence this Saturday. Grandmother wants to meet you.”

“Grandmother?”

Allison had heard from Jennifer about Alexander’s grandmother. Their marriage was decided between Jennifer and Alexander’s grandmother except that they had never met.

Now that Alexander said that his grandmother wanted to meet her, she felt indescribably nervous.

“Yes, grandmother heard that we had already registered for marriage and wants me to quickly take you to meet her.”

Allison wrung her hands nervously, “But I…” am not prepared.

Before she could finish, she thought about when Alexander attended Professor Gibson’s birthday celebrations and she held back her refusal.

Regardless, now Alexander and she were legally married. It was unacceptable if she refused to meet the family members.

Allison looked at Alexander and said softly, “I’ll go with you.”

Alexander nodded slightly, “Okay, rest early.”

After saying this, he turned and walked out of the room.

After the door closed, Allison’s anxiety erupted. She was so nervous that she paced around the room. She hadn’t been in many relationships not to mention meeting the parents of the other side. She was now even more nervous when she needed to meet Alexander’s family. She will have to bring some gifts for the visit but she didn’t know what she should get!

Allison paced around nervously as she was at a loss for ideas. In the end, she picked up her phone in desperation and called her good friend in the UK.

“Hello, Pamela!”

Pamela was surprised to receive a call from Allison, “Allison? Why did you call me?”

“I need long-distance help! Let’s cut to the chase! Tell me first, if I were to visit the elderly, like a grandmother, what kind of gifts should I bring?”

“Grandmother?” Pamela was puzzled, “What grandmother? Do you have a sudden charitable urge to visit someone at the retirement home?”

“I’m serious, it’s…”

Allison paused and swallowed the words “my husband”.

Pamela was studying music overseas and they had not seen each other for half a year. She had not informed Pamela of her lightning-quick marriage. If she were to tell Pamela of her marriage, Pamela might fly back immediately from the US to question her. It was better that she waited till Pamela was back in the country before telling her about Allison’s marriage.

Allison paused and said, “It’s my friend’s grandmother. I’m going to visit her this weekend.”

“Friend’s grandmother?” Pamela was sharp enough and her curiosity got the better of her, “Which friend? Boyfriend?”

“No, it’s… a colleague at the office.” Allison was getting nervous, “Quick tell me, what would be an appropriate gift?”

“Let me think… since it’s a grandmother, then the more practical the better. Some massage device, woolen blanket, health supplements, stuff like that!”

Allison’s eyes lit upon hearing Pamela and quickly said, “Yeah, why didn’t I think of these!”

“If you are out of ideas, then give a set of cupping device! Old people love them!”

Allison nodded, “That’s true.”

The two began to chat at length and it was an hour later when Allison ended the call. She had listed down the potential gifts and her anxieties had eased considerably.

Now what was left to be done was to prepare these gifts before the weekend and all should be well.

Allison looked at all sorts of massage devices on the internet until late into the night before falling asleep. She woke up late the next day and rushed from the villa to the office, barely arrived to work on time.

After the morning brief, Allison returned to the office and planned to make some calls to the suppliers. Before she could dial any of the numbers, her phone rang unexpectedly.

“Hello? HR Department.”

“Hello, is it Ms. Gibson? I’m the front desk receptionist. Someone is here looking for you.”

“Look for me?” Allison was stunned, “Who is it?”

“Ms. Aniston and Mr. Clarkson.”

If it was just either Ms. Aniston or Mr. Clarkson, she may not have recalled who they were but when the names were mentioned together, Allison immediately knew who they were.

She hesitated for a moment and then said, “Let them wait for a while, I’ll go down immediately.”

The last time at the International Hotel of J City, if it wasn’t for the timely appearance of Alexander, she would have been ruined. After the incident, it was Bernard who told her what had happened. It was Anna who convinced her cousin, Renata, and even colluded with Mr. Attwood to set her up.

She didn’t expect that Anna and Julius still had the gall to look for her!

Allison became upset, hung up the call, and walked out of the office without hesitation. When she arrived at the main hall, she could see Anna and Julius sitting on a sofa in the waiting area.

As soon as Anna saw Allison, she tugged onto Julius and pulled him along as she walked towards Allison.

She started to smile at Allison and said, “Allison, you’re finally here, we had been waiting for you for a while!”

Allison was stunned by Anna’s stark difference in behavior and her fake smile. She frowned uncomfortably and asked, “Why are you looking for me?”
