Baron’s eyes narrowed, and an awful flicker appeared in the eyes.

“Mr. Owen, should I continue the investigation of Clark?” a man asked on the other end of the phone.

“No, leave it! Clark should be dead already. We have to sit and wait to see what comes out,” said Baron calmly.

In fact, the information was clear enough for him. He had guessed who was hiding under the cluster of intrigues.

The Brone Group was run by the Owen family for a long time. Though the Group was taken over by Baron, he hadn’t been in total control of it. The Owen family had planted their men, especially in the headquarters.

Most of the Brone’s employees did not know Baron’s identity. So, they were still loyal to the Owen family.

As Baron expected, after Camel turned himself in to the police, the Brone Group was clogged with journalists. A phalanx of television cameras was waiting outside the Brone Group. The scene looked extraordinarily chaotic.

Given the state of things, there was no way to conceal Palmer’s suicide. Yuri just became the general manager of the company. The incidence was keeping her so busy.

But Baron was much calmer. He had picked up Lara and Tracy. And now they were on the way to the Peak Hotel.

“Dad, where are we going?” Lara asked. She had discovered this was not the way to the Perry Manor.

“Lara, you said you want to live in a big house, right?” Baron said with a smile while driving.

Lara nodded and took one look at Tracy. “Yes, I enjoy living in a big house. But it costs a lot of money. I don’t want you two to work so hard. In that case, I would rather live in a small house.”

When Tracy heard the words, her eyes misted a little.

The words moved Baron too. He was grateful that he could fulfill his little girl’s wish.

“Sweetheart, we are going to our new home now!” Tracy said gently, holding Lara’s hand.

“A new home?” Lara asked, confused.

“Yes. Our new home! It is as big as a palace!” Tracy said and laughed.

Lara’s face brightened. She cheered, “Is that true, Mom?”

“Of course! You will see how beautiful it is,” said Tracy, still laughing.

It had never occurred to her that she could leave the Perry Manor one day. Sherry created problems for her almost every day. The sounds of quarreling voices filled the Perry Manor every second, every minute, every hour. Tracy had enough of it. She couldn’t stay there any longer.

They got back to the Peak Hotel after a while. A big and nice villa stood in front of Lara. She was in a frenzy of excitement as soon as she got off the car. She gave a great roar of delight, “Dad! Mom! Look! It’s really a palace! Wow! I can sleep in a palace.”

Lara was enjoying running around the Peak Hotel. Baron and Tracy look at her. And on their faces, there was the same loving smile.

At eight o’clock in the evening, Yuri hadn’t been back. “Yuri is not back yet!” Tracy said, looking worried. She knew nothing about what had happed today in the Brone group.

Tracy turned on her phone and some notifications popped up.

“Murder Brone Group! An employee jumped to his death!”

“Sex scandal broke! The general manager of Brone Group in Cona abused his powers!”

“Bombshell! The general manager of Brone Group in Cona got caught! His lover got his position!”

Tracy read them carefully and found they were all about the Brone Group. Her face turned white.

She looked anxiously at Baron, who was playing with Lara. “What happened in the Brone Group, Baron? Why was Camel arrested, and why does Yuri take the place of the general manager?”

Tracy knew Baron had a good relationship with Camel. Aside from this, she knew very little about the Brone Group. But Yuri was involved into the trouble, so, she couldn’t stand by and do nothing.

“It is hard to explain. Things are not so simple. Camel literally turned himself in, but it’s only temporary. Of course, Yuri had to manage the company in the next few days.”

Baron hesitated for a moment and continued, “Actually, I am the chairman of the Brone Group. And Yuri takes the place of the general manager. It was my idea!”

Tracy was struck dumb at the words. “What?! You are the chairman of the Brone Group? So, you are from that Owen family actually?”

Tracy’s eyes fixed dead at Baron. “How could you not tell me? Is there anything else that I need to know?”

Tracy had mixed feelings about that. She was shocked, but she was more poignant. They were husband and wife, but she didn’t know much as much about Baron even as Yuri.

Baron thought for a few seconds and said, “Tracy, I didn’t tell you because I want to protect you. My world is not only cruel and blood-thirsty, but totally amoral.”

“You say that you truly love me, Baron! I’m your wife! Why do you keep me out of your world？You know what? You treat me as a fair-weather wife!” As Tracy spoke, tears welled up in her eyes.

“No, you misunderstood me.” Baron looked a little worried. His hearts melted at the Tracy’s tears.

“Husband and wife should stand together through thick and thin, right?” Tracy cried. “Couples should be there for each other, should cleave to one another. I thought we were in this together. But you make me stay out of your life. What you did bring us farther apart, rather than closely together!”

Baron froze. He never thought of it. Tracy was innocent and good. He really wished that she could be happy all the time! So, he concealed his background and the relationship with that Owen family in Donas.

And before today, Baron never thought that it might not be what Tracy really wanted. It was only after he heard the words, everything clicked. All she wanted was to share joys and sorrows with him.

As Tracy said these words, Baron realized that how important he is to Tracy. In her heart, she had already decided that Baron was her husband.

Baron looked at Tracy intently. After a while, he said sincerely, “Sorry, Tracy! From today, whatever it is, I will tell you! I promise!”

It was the middle of the night. Lara was already asleep. The faint glow of a lamp shone over the room. Tracy and Baron lay sleepless.

“You are from the Owen family in Donas. But everyone knows the family is wealthy and powerful. Why did you become a security guard five years ago? That’s what confused me,” Tracy asked.

“My mom and I were kicked out of the family many years ago. We were backed into a corner. I had no choice but to become a security guard to make money. And since then, there is no relationship between I and the family,” Baron recalled. “And the Brone Group was built by my mom from scratch before they married.”
