Lenny and Scarlett novel Chapter 53

Scarlet took the dress to the dressing room, and the shop assistant helped her put it on.

After Nita putting on the wedding dress, she came out first. Jamal and Lenny were nearby, and rushed over almost immediately.

Jamal's eyes softened and even began to grow moist when he saw his wife in a wedding dress.

He knew he owed her one for thirty years, and he was finally able to make up for this loss.

Standing by his father's side, Lenny lowered his head to look at his phone, as he communicated with Drake over some work matters.

Just then, he heard the shop assistant speak.

"Miss, you look so beautiful in this dress... It looks as though it is tailor-made just for you. Whoever marries you will be indeed a lucky man!"

Lenny raised his head to these words and was met with Scarlet, who seemed to be almost unrecognizable.

She usually wore a ponytail, and wore simple, neat and clean clothes.

But now, her long and smooth hair fell loose on her shoulders. Her small, petite face seemed fairer against the dress.

The gorgeous wedding dress accentuated her perfect figure.

She stood there quietly, like a bride waiting for her groom. Her eyes were bright and pure. They met Lenny's in the same instant.

The air seemed to have frozen.

Everything was dead silent.

Now, they were the only two people who existed in each other's worlds.

He couldn't help feeling that Scarlet looked absolutely stunning and breathtaking in her wedding dress.

"Scarlet, you are so beautiful," Nita said happily.

Her words jolted Lenny back to reality.

"Really? Do you think so? Does the dress suit me?" Scarlet asked nervously.

"Of course. You know, if you don't mind, I'd like to gift it to you."

"Thanks, Mrs. Foster. That's very generous... but if I want it, I think my future husband should be the one who pays for it."

"Yes, you're right. I didn't think about that. You are such a good girl. I wonder who'd be lucky enough to marry you! If only I had one more son..." Nita said regretfully.

Scarlet smiled at this proclamation and headed back into the dressing room to change out of the wedding dress.

"Miss, that dress looks like it's made for you. Are you sure you don't want to buy it?" asked the shop assistant.

Scarlet shook her head reluctantly. No matter how much she liked this wedding dress, she had no reason nor right to wear it. How could she? She wasn't even betrothed to anyone.

She touched her lower abdomen absentmindedly and thought about how difficult it would be for her to get married in the future.

This wedding dress... It was likely she would never again have the opportunity to try on a wedding dress. Today, she had fulfilled her deepest desire and seen herself in one.

She shook her head slightly before she said, "No, thank you."

After Nita picked her own wedding dress, Jamal made the payment and they left the shop.

As they exited the shop, Lenny's phone rang. It seemed like it was work.

"I have to go back to work. You guys can continue shopping."

"Okay, let's go," Jamal said.

The three of them left together, but Lenny returned to the dress shop after they were nowhere in sight.

He reentered the shop and stood in front of the wedding dress that Scarlet had tried on before, unable to move.

The shop assistant noticed him and immediately came over. She approached him with a smile. "Sir, you seem to have a liking to this wedding dress, am I right?"

"Pack it up for me, please," he said lightly.

The shop assistant quickly fulfilled his wish and asked politely, "Sir, are you getting this dress for that lady who wore it just now? If you gift it to her, I really think you two will definitely get together. Sir, I'd like to congratulate you in advance because you're going to be marrying a real beauty."

It was understandable for the shop assistant to assume that Lenny and Scarlet would be a couple, as they had entered the shop together and after Scarlet tried the dress on, Lenny immediately purchased it after she left.

However, Lenny's face grew serious when the shop assistant said this.

"You made a mistake. This is for my fiancee. It has nothing to do with that lady."

The shop assistant was stunned. She hadn't expected to make such a big mistake, so she immediately apologized.

Soon, Nita's wedding day arrived. Scarlet was one of the guests in attendance.

Lenny had become a little strange in recent days, and Scarlet didn't know what to make of it. He didn't talk to her much and looked at her strangely and coldly, as if she owed him a lot of money.

She didn't bother to dive deeper into it. After all, she only had to interact with the Fosters for the wedding. After today, she wouldn't be meeting them anymore.

Since Marlene had finally come round to Nita, she would accept Rosaline eventually. It was just a matter of time.

"My dear, why are you so happy?" Marlene asked.

"Of course I'm happy. It's a real celebration!"

"Do you want to hear some more good news?"

Scarlet nodded eagerly as she ate her food.

Everyone liked to hear good news, after all.

"I told Lenny to drive that woman away, so that the both of you can live together for three months."

Scarlet was speechless. She looked at Marlene in shock, unable to react for a long time.

The food got lodged in her throat as a result of her shock. She began to choke and cough, until her face turned red.
