Love in Twilight novel (Clarissa and Damien) novel Chapter 297

Chapter 297 From Now On, It‘s Us Against The World After Clarissa got into the car, Damien remained outside. He leaned against the car while smoking a cigarette, trying to appease his irritation.

Connie and her family irritated him to no end.

Damien had been raised in an affluent family, and on this day, he had witnessed the acrimonious and harsh environment in which normal, middle–class families lived. They were unbelievably calculative.

He kept frowning

“What‘s wrong?” Clarissa asked.

“It‘s nothing.” He started the car.

She felt both inferior and apologetic. “Is it because of my uncle‘s family?”

“Don‘t overthink.” He said, “You‘re not related to them in any way.”

Damien was trying his best to tell himself this–Clarissa did not come from such a family.

“But they‘re my relatives in every sense of the word. So is Luke. They might not be my flesh and blood, but they did still raise me. Since my biological parents abandoned me, they must not have wanted me. Maybe they‘re even worse off than my adoptive parents, and maybe they would‘ve gotten into worse fights than that. That‘s just how my family is, and there‘s nothing that can be done even if you don‘t feel good about it,” Clarissa said as she faced the window.

Damien didn‘t say anything else.

Clarissa suddenly remembered that she had forgotten to get the ring back from her grandmother.

Then again, since Damien was so repulsed by the atmosphere in their house, it would be better not to ask him to go back to get it. Moreover, she had never placed any importance on the ring.

She had never thought of relying on it to find her actual family. Since they had abandoned her, that would‘ve been the end of their bond with each other. By the time they got home, the sky had already turned dark. There was a short flight of stairs from the basement car park to the first floor. Clarissa started to walk up them with a hand supporting her back. Damien held out his hand, and she grabbed it instinctively. She tried to pull away from him in the elevator, but he tightened his grip and stopped her.

She couldn‘t help thinking that familiarity did breed fondness. The feelings she used to have for Damien were slowly starting to resurface, and they seemed to be even stronger than before.

In the past, she had been nothing but an innocent, naive girl.

Now, she was pregnant with his babies.
