Loveless Marriage novel Chapter 140

Isabella's beautiful face immediately turned purple. She didn't even know whether to laugh or get angry. Did he have to be so unromantic?

She laughed coldly, "You really know how to copy blindly. Why didn't you ask your Adrian for advice in advance? To have someone bring me flowers in working hours, do you want me to be gossiped by everyone in the company tomorrow? "

Previously, Shawn's behaviour had already made her feel repulsed. But he was her client, so she naturally wouldn't say anything.

"He said women are all into such romantic scene."

"…"

Isabella choked once again and gritted her teeth in hatred. Did he really asked Adrian about that?

"Then you can send it to any other women. Don’t bother me. I still need to work."

Hanging up her phone, Isabella bit her lips angrily.

In a few seconds, Christian called again. This time, Isabella directly pressed the 'decline' button.

He didn't call back after that.

At night before they left work, Minh came in her office and handed her a written request for leave.

Glancing at him, Isabella lowered her head to sign her name and pretended to casually asked: "Where do you live now?"

She only sent him to an intersection last time but didn't ask where he exactly lived.

Originally, she had no right to interfere in such private matters as his superior. However, since he'd voluntarily told her about his story, she could ask him as a normal friend and concern about him.

Minh laughed as usual: "What, do you want to send me back, Miss Jones?"

Isabella raised her eyebrows. Then she nodded and didn't seem to be joking, "Sure, wait a minute."

Minh was startled a bit, but quickly smiled: "I was just joking. I need to go somewhere else first and it won't be convenient for you to send there."

"It's getting so late. Where are you going?" Isabella blurted out those words, but she quickly felt it may be a little inappropriate and unnaturally turned her gaze away.

Minh suddenly laughed out loud, and his handsome face revealed some vitality, "Isabella, you can't be thinking that I'm gonna do some stupid things, can you?"

Isabella's expression froze. She laughed dryly: "Err … No, I'm just asking. If it's out of your way, then it's fine. Go home early and don't stay outside too late."

Minh gave her a deep look and smiled warmly, "Sure."

...

When Isabella went out her office, Minh had already left. With a heave heart, she bumped into Luke downstairs her company.

Being a little startled, she then smiled, "Luke, why are you here?"

They hadn't seen each other for a few days. Every time he wanted to see her, she rejected, as she hadn't known how to make things and her feelings clear to him.

"I came to see you." Luke smiled warmly as usual, as if he could calm down everything.

Just as Isabella was about to reply, someone suddenly came out from behind him. He looked at Luke curiously and whispered: "Miss Jones, this should the man who sent you flowers at noon, shouldn't he?"

Although his voice was quite low, everyone present could still hear him.

Luke glanced at her, without any change on his face.

Isabella was embarrassed. She immediately explained to that person, "No, that was just a gift from my client. And this is a friend of mine, Luke Allen."

Then, she turned to Luke in embarrassment, "Luke, this is Tim from my department."

The man nodded, "Hello, Tim."

Looking at them, Tim immediately realised he had said something wrong. His face turned pale and apologised in panic, "Sorry, Mr. Allen, I was just joking. Umm...I'll leave now, goodbye."

"Goodbye."

Seeing Tim walk away, Isabella changed the topic and asked, "Where's Rachel? Isn't she with you?"

"She is now a bit tired after playing around for long this afternoon. She has already fell asleep in the car."

Isabella walked towards his car and saw the little girl who was sleeping in the backseat. she then asked in confusion, "What did you do today?"

Luke put his hand on the roof of the car, saying in a heavy but still gentle tone, "I got to know another child psychologist, and we spent all day at the clinic."

Isabella asked worriedly, "Does it work?"

Luke was silent for a few seconds, then slowly shook his head. "The doctor tried to communicate with her, but she seemingly couldn't hear him. She was okay when I was with her, but as soon as I left she would cry. All were as before."

Looking at Rachel, her heart ached and she silently shook her head, "No, I believe there is still some way. As long as we don't give up and take it slow, she'll be fine."

Such a little girl with such a severe autism. It was as if she was living in a silent world. Anyone seeing her would feel heartache.

She didn't know how her children would be in the future, but she would never want to see anything like this happen to them.

Hearing she said the word "we", a trace of light flashed past Luke's sad eyes. He looked at them warmly as he gently said, "That's right, I won't give up. I'll definitely cure her."

Seeing his gentle expression, Isabella hurriedly shifted her gaze away and laughed: "Luke, we can't always stand here. I'll get my car and let's find a place for dinner."

Luke nodded. "Sure."

After Isabella turned around, the expression on her face gradually froze and she slowly tightened her grip on the car key.

They then arrived at a French restaurant.

"Rachel, come here." Isabella waved at her after she woke up.

The little girl smiled. Her pink lips were quite tender, making her look very cute.

Isabella then lowered her head to pinch Rachel's face and gently smiled, "Have you been a good girl recently?"

The little girl blinked her crystal eyes and nodded.

"Then have you made your dad angry?"

Rachel hesitated for a second, then shook her head slowly.

Isabella happily touched her hair and praised: "Good girl, I will teach you how to write later on, okay?"

The little girl looked up at her, blinked her eyes, and nodded.

Luke sat opposite them, gently watching their interaction with a smile.

They ate very slowly. Isabella carefully fed Rachel all time.

She truly pitied this girl no matter what happened with the adults. At the end of the meal, Luke put down his fork, wiped his mouth, and looked at her: "Isabella...Are you trying to avoid me recently? "
