Loveless Marriage novel Chapter 148

However, she didn't know that a man in black slowly walked out from behind a row of cedar trees. Wearing a cap pressed low, he watched her leave away, with his hands clenched into fists.

The location of the cemetery was a little remote. Isabella walked for a whole while but still couldn't find any taxis.

Her slender figure looked even skinnier on the wide road where there weren't many cars.

She stood there for a few seconds at a crossroad. Seeing it turned into a green light, she casually stepped forward.

All of a sudden, a car appeared from nowhere and sped towards her.

Sensing it from the corner of her eyes, Isabella turned her head and saw a grey car. But her head turned blank and she remained on the spot.

Just as she was about to dodge in panic, suddenly a black car darted out from the side at an extremely fast speed and stopped in front of her, blocking the car.

"Bam!"

With a huge sound, Isabella went back to her senses suddenly. She looked at the scene in front of her with a pale face.

The man in the black car opened the door and got off. He then quickly asked Isabella, "Miss Jones, are you okay?"

Isabella looked up to him and instantly widened her eyes. "Can…Canon?"

At this moment, the engine noise suddenly increased. Both of them quickly looked over, just to see that grey car had already sped away, leaving them no time to stop it.

Isabella looked at the car in disbelief, "He...just ran away like that?"

How dare he to do such a hit and run accident?

Looking in the direction of the car, Canon asked lightly with a stern face: "Miss Jones, did you see anyone just now?"

Isabella frowned, "I didn't see it clearly... He seems to wear all in black with a hat, so I couldn't his face."

And the car was also so fast. She was too panicked to see anything.

Then Isabella sized him up and asked anxiously, "Are you fine? Did you bump into it? "

"I'm fine. Don't worry" As Canon said, he turned around to check the car.

Isabella also followed along, then she find there was a hole on the other side of the car. Her face turned pale even more, "It's really serious."

A strong sense of fear suddenly welled up in her heart. If it she was hit just now, would she still be alive?

Looking inside at the car, Isabella saw that the airbag had been ejected. This caused her to look worriedly at Canon, "Are you really okay?"

Canon frowned as if he was thinking about something.

Seeing him say nothing, Isabella waved her hand in front of his eyes, and said with a heavy voice: "What's wrong? Is there a problem? "

Canon blinked his eyes and shook his head, "Nothing. I need call the police. Miss Jones, I might have to let you wait for a while."

"No worries. I'll wait." Isabella regained her calm and said with a faint smile.

Canon nodded and made a call, then came back to try restart the car.

Looking at the car that was seriously hit, she said apologetically: "This car belongs to your company, right? Thank you for saving my life. I'll take all these losses and compensation today."

Although she was currently in a tight spot, Canon saved her life today, actually three lives. So she shouldn't cause him any trouble from now on.

Canon didn't reject her directly. He squatted down and checked the car while explaining: "This is my company's car which has been insured, and it needs to go through a lot of procedures before I could give you an exact number. I'll tell you later."

Isabella agreed, "Alright, but thanks anyway."

Without Canon, something would definitely have happened to her today.

"Mr. Miller hired me to protect you, so your safety is naturally the most important thing. There is no need to thank me." Canon smiled.

Hearing Christian's name, Isabella's smile slowly faded, "You noticed me as soon as I left the company, and you followed me all the way?"

Canon stood up, patted on the dust on his hands, and calmly said, "Mr. Miller is worried about you when you go on a trip alone, Miss Jones."

Looking at the handsome man, Isabella chuckled: "You really listened to his words. If the car had been a bit faster and you were crippled, would you have regretted doing this job?"

Canon was startled, then replied indifferently, "I don't have a education background as good as you, Miss Jones. This is my job, and the money given by Mr. Miller is enough for me to take the risk. Even if I had an accident, I think he would treat me well later on."

"Haven't you thought about your girlfriend?" Isabella frowned.

Canon glanced at her strangely, then said lightly, "She will understand me."

"…"

Isabella looked at him in disbelief.

If he really loved her, would he even make her worry? Would he take such risk? What did it mean by "she will understand"? Didn't he ever think of his rest life?

He wasn't a soldier, who may sacrifice his life for their country.

Isabella really wanted to refute, but thinking that his private matter had nothing to do with her and everyone may have different views, she stopped.

Canon probably would never thought that such a casual sentence he said directly changed his image in Isabella's heart.

After that she stopped talking. As she stood quietly at the scene of the accident, her mind kept on thinking about the car incident. But the more she thought, the more she felt that something was amiss.

It was suburb and there were few cars on such a wide road, let alone people walking around. She hadn't seen a single person for a long time. Why did that driver seem to hit her on purpose?

Just as she was lost in her mind, Canon suddenly asked her: "Has anything strange happened to you recently, Miss Jones?"

"Strange things?"

Considering for a moment, Isabella slowly shook his head.

"Such as being followed or something?" Canon's gaze turned dark.

Isabella's face changed, "You also think there was something wrong as well?"

Turned out she didn't guess it wrong.

Was that someone who hated Tristan? He even followed her to Liverpool.

Suddenly she felt a bit of worry and quickly took out her phone to call her mom.

After waiting anxiously for a few seconds, the call was answered. "Mom?"

"Isabella, what's going on?"

Isabella asked worriedly: "Are you home?"
