In the middle of the night, Verena Moore, lying on a huge bed with quilt and clothes scattered around, seemed to see a man pin her down through her blurry eyes. This guy looked quite attractive and well-shaped.

Then she felt a bang of pain down her body.

Verena finally woke up and opened her eyes the next morning.

However, she was left alone in the room.

Obviously, the man who had sex with her last night had left.

She managed to support herself up, feeling pain all over as if she was crashed by a truck. The quilt fell off her body. All kinds of bruises and hickeys could be seen all over her body.

Verena couldn't help smiling bitterly.

Since it was her own choice, she was left no room to feel sad about it.

She grabbed the check on the table hard. She sniffed and then left.

She would only deem what happened last night a dream.

When she went back home, both Susan Walsh and Queenie Moore were having meal.

When seeing her back, Susan looked livid. She grabbed her hairs and shouted, "You jinx! You make your father suffer! How dare you go back home before you raise enough money to pay off the medical fee for your father!"

Verena gasped and then uttered, "Mom…"

"Don't call me mom! You don't deserve to be my daughter!"

While eating, Queenie was watching with a mocking face.

Frowning, Verena spread out her hand and handed her a wrinkled check, "Mom, here is the check…"

A check? Susan hurried to grab the check and murmured with great disbelief, "Five million?"

Queenie walked over and mocked, "How could that bitch get a five million check? She must be lying…"

However, she then screamed, "What? It's real!"

Susan asked, "Queenie, are you sure? Is it a real check?"

"Mom, I could tell it must be a real one!"

Queenie was quite sure about it.

"Tell me! How do you get the check!" Susan looked at Verena with vicious eyes.

Verena's face turned pale. She gritted her teeth, "Mom, don't worry. I didn't steal it or rob it from anyone else. I gained it legally."

"Legally?" Queenie sneered and looked at the hickeys on her neck. Then she continued, "Oh, you still got the evidence on your neck! You must be serving as a prostitute, right?"

Susan also looked at the black and blue hickeys on her body, which were so clear to be noticed.

Susan frowned and cursed, "What a bitch! How could you be so shameless!"

Verena just kept silent.

She couldn't belittle herself just because of being mocked.

She couldn't help clenching her fists and biting her lips. Her nails were even about to stab into her palms, "Mom, let's go to the hospital. We still need to pay off the fee for dad…"

Susan glared at her and then went to the hospital with Queenie.

Verena hurried to follow.

However, she couldn't help gasping as she felt the sharp pain all over her body.

The man she encountered last night on the bed acted like a starving wolf. He was so fierce and violent.

As Susan walked into the ward in the hospital, she asked anxiously, "Doctor, how about my husband?"

"Judging from the current situation, he still looks bad. He is now facing deadly danger. But we could only tell after the surgery. Now he is in an urgent need for a surgery. Please pay off the fee first."

"Okay, I got it." Then Susan hurried to pay off the medical fee.

Both Verena and Queenie were waiting outside the surgery room.

Looking at the door, Verena prayed in her heart, 'Dad, you will be fine!'

Hours later, the door of the surgery room was opened.

"The surgery was conducted smoothly. However, we found a cerebral hemorrhage down his left brain through CT scanning. So he might not wake up in a certain period of time."

"Doctor, what do you mean by that?" Verena asked cautiously.

"In other words, he turns to be a human vegetable. He may wake up one day or probably never. Besides, his current situation is much more dangerous than common patients. So he needs to be transferred to ICU. And the cost everyday would be 8000 with extra surgery fee excluded."

Queenie couldn't help exclaiming, "What? Eight thousand for a single day? Are you blackmailing us?"

The doctor looked sullen, "Lady, our hospital has been authorized! We will never charge you extra fee. If you deem it too expensive to afford, just transfer the patient to another hospital. We won't ask him to stay."

"No, doctor! We will stay!" Verena hurried to say.

For her, her father was the most important one in her life.

Queenie kept silent. However, a trace of evil look flashed across her eyes. She seemed to decide on something.

After going through the admission procedure for her father, Verena finally breathed a sigh of relief and went back home.

Her mom and Queenie went to supermarket to buy some commodities for her father. So they hadn't been back.

Verena really starved as she hadn't had any food for a whole day. Besides, she was almost crashed by that man last night.

She took a bowl of porridge and gulped it down.

However, as she just took a few bites, the door was opened. Queenie and Susan walked in.

They took two suitcases besides the commodities.

Verena frowned as she had no idea why they took two suitcases back.

When seeing that Verena seemed to notice, Susan shouted, "What are you looking at! I have been walking around the mall and eaten nothing for the whole morning! Go to cook lunch for us!"

Verena put down the bowel and went into kitchen, silent still.

Soon, they could smell the scent of delicious dishes. Verena sat opposite them while holding chopsticks.

Susan frowned and looked disdainful, "You have just finished your meal, right? How dare you continue?"

"I just took a bowl of porridge." Verena explained.

Now she was still starving.

"Don't get yourself full! It cost much for the food! Time to bring the porridge to your dad!"
