My Most Precious Human novel Chapter 127

Draven's voice sounded calm and still, and it was probably the most terrifying tone I had ever heard. My eyes widened while my throat went perfectly dry, making me unable to swallow. Draven's eyes slowly roamed down my terrified body. Then he slammed me against the wall and caged me between his hands, on each side of my hand.

"I'm sorry!" I choked out hoarsely.

"Why are you here, Lilith?" His eyes drilled deeper, forcing me to answer his every question.

The raw force Draven released upon me, considering that he stood almost naked, should have felt as intimidating as arousing, but it was the intimidating part that swallowed my brain. Within less than a second, all the possible answers ran across my head. Every lie sounded ridiculous and had the potential to get me into even more trouble.

"I…" My throat clenched so tightly that a single sound felt painful.

Unknowingly, my eyes roamed down to my pocket, and his eyes followed. A tiny piece of the note that I shoved there was still sticking out. Draven used one hand to pull it out while placing his other one flat on my shoulder and pining me harder against the wall.

"Delivery around 4 PM. Christopher's report at 5 PM. Dinner at 6 PM," he read out loud. "Mind telling me why did you break into my room to steal the note about my daily schedule?"

He smirked, throwing the note away, obviously amused, and I blushed like an idiot. I didn't care what was on that note; I cared only that Draven was the one who had written it.

"Well, Lilith?" He leaned closer, dreadfully shrinking the distance between us.

"I-I needed your handwriting," I breathed out, turning my head to avoid his stare.

"To do what, Lilith? Did you want to forge some documents and sign them with my name?" He whispered, brushing his lips against my cheek.

Shivers spread across my body, increasing my heart rate to an insane level. "I… needed to know if I could trust you…" I muttered.

His fingertips stroked down my arms. One of his hands was enough to grab both of my wrists and pin them above my head.

"And you chose the way that makes you less trustworthy in my eyes," he chuckled coldly, pressing his body against mine.

I was seconds away from panicking. I couldn't move. I couldn't escape him, and I had no power within me to resist. My chest moved up and down, my breasts stroking his naked muscles while doing it. His hips moved forward, with his bulge rubbing the lower part of my belly. It didn't help that I tried to avoid his gaze. I could feel his breath on my face, my neck, and the strength of his body devouring me bit by bit.

"I had to know that it wasn't you…" I mumbled softly.

"Explain, Lilith," he ordered, his lips nipping at one side of my neck.

I couldn't tell if he wanted to make me talk or make it harder for me. His hand slipped on my back, around my waist, and jolted me against his hips. I gasped and unknowingly faced his intense stare. My mind was unable to construct a single sentence while I was gazing into those onyx pupils of his. I wriggled, trying to release my hands from his grip. He chuckled at my attempts.

"Stop it! I lose my mind when you're like that!" I exclaimed.

Startled by my sudden, unplanned confession, he let me go. I took a deep breath and, using my trembling hands, I pushed him away.

"I've been investigating encrypted notes addressed to Elora. The one who sent them must have been someone powerful, and I needed to be sure that it wasn't you," I said, lowering my gaze.

Draven puffed, trying to ridicule my suspicions, but then grabbed my chin, forcing me to look into his eyes.

"You should have told me, and then I would have given it to you," he gritted his teeth.

"I didn't know that," I stated, pushing his hand away from my chin.

"You should have trusted me this much." Draven crossed his hands over his chest.

I glanced at him meaningfully. "Would you seriously ask someone who might have been behind a series of brutal deaths to give you something that might prove it?"

With a smug smirk on his face, he wrapped his arm around my waist and tugged me close to him. "If I were as brutal as you suspected me to be, you would be dead by now."
