Mysterious Mr.Richard novel Chapter 56

Under everyone's horrified eyes, Pearl lowered her head and stared at her right hand blankly.

After the skin was scratched by sharp objects, it would not immediately reveal all the wounds, but blood beads would soon seep from the wounds. Now, blood formed a straight line on the wound and was dripping down her fingers.

The blood on the ground soon gathered up and looked shocking from a distance.

"Oh god!" Someone shouted, and everyone broke into chaos.

Evelina's face was extremely pale. When she saw blood, the scalpel slipped out of her hand and clattered onto the ground. She stumbled away slowly. "I didn't mean it. I... I didn't..."

As she spoke, a tall figure had quickly passed through the chaotic set. Facing Pearl, he said, "Raise your hands and come with me."

Pearl froze for a minute. By the time she came to her mind, Richard had already grabbed her injured hand. He led her through the crowd, with everyone looking at them.

Bleeding all the way, everyone consciously avoided and cleared a path for them to walk.

In the Jackson Hospital Emergency Room, Pearl's hand was tightly wrapped in gauze.

The doctor said, "Wait for fifteen minutes. We'll give you a shot, If there are no other problems."

"Ok." Pearl nodded.

"I have other patients to attend to, so you just wait right here."

"Sure, just go ahead."

Pearl was left alone in the ward, after the doctor left.

Richard walked out soon after he sent her here, and hadn't come back yet.

Just as she was wondering if Richard left, he walked in. Holding a bottle of water in his hand, he opened it and handed it over.

"Thank you." She reached out her right hand and took it. When she realized that her hand was wrapped in gauze, she switched to her left hand quickly.

The both of them seemed to have put the Helena situation behind them because of her injury. Both of them behaved as if the fight never happened, and no one mentioned it again.

Richard pulled a chair and sat down. His eyes was as cold as ever. "You're quite an expert to offend people, aren't you? What did you do to piss off Evelina?"

"You might as well ask yourself." Pearl forced a smile and said.

Richard frowned a little.

"You withdrew Evelina's endorsement, right?"

"Then?" There was a flash of panic in Richard's eyes.

"So it seems. No wonder she treated me in such a bad attitude, like sh*t."

"Do you think I replaced her because of you? Pearl, you think highly of yourself. You think I withdrew her endorsement just because she slapped you?"

Pearl was stunned. "What did you say?" She stared in shock at him.

Richard froze.

"How did you know that? The ambassador..."

Pearl didn't understand what he meant, and it didn't seem to be what he thought at all.

Richard choked foe a while. Then he said angrily, "What exactly are you talking about?"

Pearl's eyes showed that she was stunned. "I mean that you took away her endorsement, so she wanted to show her acting skills to you today. However, she didn't do well, and I became her double, so she was embarrassed. That's why she was angry with me..."

Wasn't that so? Anyone could tell what happened, but what was Richard thinking?

What did that slap have to do with her endorsement?

Pearl recalled what he said, and realized suddenly. "You withdrew her endorsement because of me?"

"You think too much." Richard's face became serious, and he was hostile.

Pearl began to regret saying that without thinking. It was like she was asking for it.

The air was awkward.

Pearl was sure that Evelina's endorsement being withdrawn had something to do with her. She was flooded with different emotions.

Didn't he say that he had forgotten about her? Didn't he say that he had no feelings about her?

Why was he still caring about her life? Why was he avenging her, just like what he used to do.

"Richard, I really didn't give those things to Helena." After hesitating for a long time, Pearl finally explained what happened in the morning.

Richard frowned slightly. "You mean my mom lied to me?"

"I don't think it needs many reasons to slander someone. One is enough. She hates me."

"Why?"

"Because she thought I was the person who hindered your future."

Times have changed, the truth that she buried because of her pride came to light. She was not a person who would just sit back and accept everything as it came. Since it had something to do with Richard, she decided not to keep it from him.

"Seven years ago, she met me in college after your brother's accident."

Richard's eyes narrowed, as soon as she finished speaking.

"She demanded me to leave you and gave me a check for five million dollars. She said that we weren't meant for each other."

She explained the whole story briefly without giving much detail.

Richard's face did not change, but his voice was low. "Why didn't you tell me before?"

"I didn't tell you back then because of my pride, but later I thought it was unnecessary." Pearl raised her head, looking at him with a calm look. "I'm telling you now because you interrogated me. I have no intentions to ruin your marriage. I didn't do what you said, so I can't admit it."

If she really did something wrong, she would admit it regardless of the consequences.

However, no matter how small the matter was, she would not admit if she didn't do it.

After listening to her words, 'I have no intentions to ruin your marriage.' This sentence echoed in his mind. Every single word was sharp.

Suddenly, he felt tight in his chest. After being separated for three years, for a moment, all those emotions he had buried deep inside him emerged like a tsunami.

"Don't be so self-righteous. You haven't given me an explanation for what you did back then." Richard suppressed his anger.

"What explanation?" Pearl looked at him.

"What about the video? What about the photos at the birthday party?"

Pearl clenched her fists.

"Don't tell me someone framed you. I've verified that the photos and videos are true." Richard pressed harder.

Silence, only silence, as if a century had passed.

Richard stared at her with a burning look. "That was the reason why you left, wasn't it?"
