Rebirth : A Woman With Frozen Heart novel Chapter 22

Silence and peace returned inside the restaurant. Chu Hui An stared at Ming Yue worriedly, "Small Moon, you should leave this city with me. Red Tiger is not just ordinary gangster. They are ruthless to their enemies."

"It's okay Uncle Chu, I can handle it." Ming Yue took his hand with her both hands and gripped it gently, "You have protected me all this years, let me protect you now." She said sincerely.

"Ah this child.." Uncle Chu's eyes became red as tears threatened to flow down. It was definitely a good karma when he helped this child in the past. Fortunately, Small Moon was a child who paid kindness with more kindness.

"Thank you, Small Moon." Uncle Chu said, his voice became hoarse.

Ming Yue shook her head, "You can thank me later when I solved your problem. Now please tell me, how Red Tiger came to your door?"

"Actually, I am in debt to Red Tiger because of my ex-wife. You know that my ex-wife ran away with another man, right?" Uncle Chu asked and Ming Yue nodded.

"Well at that time, she took all my savings and left me nothing but this restaurant deed. I was so lost that I borrow money using this restaurant deed. I managed to pay the instalments so far but all of a sudden, the interest rate got doubled. I can't pay it anymore since my restaurant is a small restaurant." Uncle Chu said with a heavy sigh.

"That's just ridiculous!" Lin Shao exclaimed, clearly in rage for the injustice treatment.

"That's just how gangster works, I think.." Lin Zhao spoke softly.

However Ming Yue thought differently. There might be something amiss in the middle of all this and she intended to find it out. "Don't worry Uncle Chu, I will take care of it." Ming Yue said with a reassuring smile.

"But Small Moon.. I don't want you to be in danger because of me.." Uncle said with a frown, gripping her hand tightly. "I always thought of you as my daughter, if anything happens to you.."

Ming Yue kept her smile, "Don't worry, I won't be in danger."

"True! My Lady won't be in danger because I will be by her side." A voice spoke and four heads turned their gaze toward the source. The four heads gave different expression as they saw Bai Hu in his human form, with his hands on the waist and still wearing ancient clothes!!

Lin Zhao was biting her lower lip, trying to hold the laughter that threatened to burst out.

Lin Shao had his palm covered his face as he sighed and shook his head.

Ming Yue closed her eyes with her expression similar to Buddha, resigned to unavoidable fate.

Uncle Chu stared at Bai Hu with mouth curled downward, lips parted and a raised eyebrow.

The situation itself was quite comical but Bai Hu was not a being who had concern for such thing. He still confidently stood there, waiting for them to speak but as the a whole minute passed, he frowned. "Why don't you all say anything?"

Uncle Chu finally reacted. He moved his head slowly and turned it to Ming Yue whose face showing the expression of enlightenment. Truly like a Buddha!! "Your..." Uncle Chu paused slightly as he tried to search for the right words, "..Acquaintance?"

Ming Yue sighed in discontentment, as if the peace she found had been disturbed. She nodded without saying anything.

"..I see.." Uncle Chu responded curtly but couldn't help himself to say more words, "..What a 'Unique' acquaintance you have."

Ming Yue slumped her head down with a another sigh before opening her eyes and stared at Bai Hu's proud face with a helpless eyes. "Well.. indeed he is.. um.. Unique." Ming Yue agreed,

Unique?

Try 'One of a kind'..

"Well, Uncle Chu.. That man who is standing proudly like an idiot over there is Bai Hu. Uhh.. My follower.." Ming Yue said. She chose the word follower because Bai Hu would call her using 'Master' or 'My Lady'. If she said they were friends, then Bai Hu would have rejected the idea. So 'Follower' was the right word to describe their relationship.

"Master! How could you say that about the great me?!" Bai Hu said sulkily, his face distorted as he pouted.

"Follower?" Uncle Chu's brows furrowed slightly, "Are you joining a gang now? is that why you dare to offend Red Tiger? You are such a good girl, why do you have to join a gang?"

Uncle Chu shot barrage of questions, he was like a doting father who had his sweet daughter walked down a wrong path. It may looked silly to others but to Ming Yue, it made her frozen heart warmed instead. She really felt grateful to the heaven. In the past life, she had no one by her side but now, there were people who cared for her sincerely. First the Wu Family, now Uncle Chu was added into that circle. She wanted to protect them.

Ming Yue chuckled softly and shook her head, "No. I don't join any gang, Uncle Chu. You don't need to worry, I am still the good girl you know." Ming Yue said in reassuring tone.

"I called him my follower because he works under me. Let's just say that he is kind of my guardian." Ming Yue explained.

"I see. Well as long as you don't join a gang then I am glad." Uncle Chu said while patting Ming Yue's head.

"But.." Uncle Chu added, as he gave a quick glance at Bai Hu who was still sulking at the corner. He was sitting while resting his chin on the palm of his hand while facing the wall.

"It's better to tell your follower not to be so into Kung Fu series."

Hearing that, Ming Yue, Lin Zhao and Lin Shao finally laughed hard and it made Bai Hu sulked even more. Later, Ming Yue had to try hard to placate Bai Hu to go with her to buy some clothes for him.
