Reclaiming the CEO's Heart novel Chapter 118

Chapter 118 Jack Hall

"What did you just call me?" Lily looked at Avery in disbelief.

"Mrs. White, have you forgotten that you and my father divorced over a decade ago? Now that you're married to Mr. White, I should just call you Mrs. White, shouldn't I? What's wrong?"

Avery had never been so indifferent previously, and she was still kind of nice to Lily just after Lily returned to the country, unlike she was now. It seemed as if Avery had turned into a sharp-tongued person within a short time.

"Avy, you've changed. How can you say something like this? No matter what, I'm your mother," Lily sighed.

"Yes, I have changed. It's only now that I realize how nasty and selfish people can be. If I had understood this earlier, I wouldn't have wasted years missing my mom on dark nights and waiting for a person who is never coming back."

"Avy, I'm sorry. I'm back now, and I'll try my best to make it up to you, for real," Lily promised.

Avery looked at the face in front of her, and honestly, she couldn't really remember what her mother had looked like back then.

There were some signs of aging on Lily's face compared to her in the photos, but her appearance hadn't changed much. Nonetheless, she gave Avery a totally different feeling from the mother in Avery's memory.

"When you wanted to ditch me, you left me alone. And now you claim that you want to compensate me. Mrs. White, have you ever thought that I don't even need your da*n compensation? When I needed warmth the most, you weren't there. Now, I've gone through all the hardships on my own. Even if you were to give me tons of warmth, you'd never be able to melt my hard heart."

"Avy, my dear...." Lily wanted to explain.

Avery cut her off. "Mrs. White, your daughter is right over there. I don't deserve to be your daughter."

Some people in this world were born for love, and Lily just happened to be one of them. She didn't love Martin, so she could just leave everything behind when Ben came to pick her up.

Over the years, Avery had never heard from Lily, not even getting a phone call or any caring words from her.

So many years had passed. Now, Lily finally remembered she had a daughter and wanted to give her the so-called compensation.

But Avery no longer wanted that.

Avery looked at the splendid hall that was full of noises.

Those seemingly respectable people all seemed to have wicked hearts.
