Redamancy novel Chapter 14

Childish Gambino- It Feels Like Summer

Haven exited the courtroom letting out a breath she did know she needed with both her parents on either side of her who hugged and kissed her repeatedly feeling relieved that everything went as it should have.

Elijah was found guilty for attempted rape and sentenced to five years in adult prison. The starlings thanked Gianni vigorously, they finally felt at peace with situation. Beau then took his opportunity to bring Haven in a bear hug once her parents let her go.

"How about we leave them alone?" Gianni offered taking each of the twins hand bringing them a long. Demetris reluctantly moved away from the two with his wife by his side to follow Gianni down the hall. "Why don't you two go take a seat on the bench over there" Gianni instructed watching them nod and walking over to the bench not to far from them.

Gianni cleared his throat before speaking. "So I assume you know about my son's past?" He questioned staring at the Starlings intensely. Mr. Starling nodded with his hands in his pockets turning to give a brief glance at his daughter with a boy he wasn't exactly to fond of.

"Please don't judge him of his actions in the past he's a good boy I promise you" He then paused giving a gentle smile. "I just ask you to not tell your daughter and give my boy that opportunity?". He asked raising a brow at his request. Demitris laughed sarcastically, while his wife didn't know how to respond.

"He cares about her a lot" Gianni continued his pursuit. "A little bit to much if you ask me" Demetris replied rather quickly. "Listen Gianni I have respect for you, but what your son did was irresponsible and I don't want that around my child" He claimed through clench teeth.

Gaining the attention of a few Diana put her hand on her husband's chest that didn't calm him all the way down.

Gianni cleared his throat once again while fixing his tie "lower your voice Mr. Starling I will not have my son shamed" He replied back in a hard tone.

They both gave each other a hard stare when Demistris remembered this was his boss who he was talking to checked himself. Demetris sighed "I appreciate what you have done for us, but we should be getting Haven home, I'll see you on monday to go over the Keller's file, Haven let's go" Demetris called from down the hall.

"But-I" Haven started. "Now Haven" He said sternly. Haven simply said a soft goodbye to Beau and went over to thank Mr. Bianchi. "No problem it was my pleasure sweetheart" He replied giving her a hug. "I want you to stay away from that boy" Demetris demanded Haven when they stepped outside, she didn't reply.

Diana lingered a bit longer "We will consider it" She reassured Gianni before leaving. The car ride home was silent, and the air was thick. Haven didn't understand the conflict between Beau and her father there was something they weren't telling her and it was irritating.

Before Haven could walk up the stairs to her room her father had grabbed her wrist. "I do not hate Beau if that's what your thinking, I am simply looking out for you" Haven nodded silently and wanted to ask about their last conversation her father and Beau had at the police station, but knew she wouldn't receive an answer.

Kissing her father on the cheek she continued her journey up to her room closing the door feeling at peace. Although moment was cut short when her mother entered the room. She closed the door behind her walking further into the room with an unreadable expression.

"Are you ok?" Haven asked taking off her coat slowly. "Of course I am my daughter is safe and sound" Diana responded taking a seat on the bed. Haven brows knitted together. "I am" she answered hanging up her coat in her closet. "How well do you know Beau?" Diana questioned.

'So that's why she was here' Haven concluded taking a seat next to her mother on the bed.

Haven shrugged. "Not much we just go to the same school" She responded although Diana thought that was a vague reply. "You know I like Beau" Diana said in a cool tone causing Haven to look her way. "You do?" Diana nodded "Although his eyes-" She paused looking for the right word, Diana has been fixated on Beau's eyes since he dropped off Haven the night of the party.

"Seem sad have you ever noticed that?" She asked with a light smile."I have" Haven reminisced the look Beau had when he was last over. "Anyway his good in my books he drove you home that night of the party, took care of you, and got his father the best lawyer in the city to win your case" Diana paused once more. "Although your father on the other hand uh has mixed feelings against him"

Haven still couldn't understand the hate her father had for Beau. "But why he hasn't done anything" "Well beca-" Diana stopped herself from saying anything further not wanting to present the faults the young boy had in the past.

"I don't know honestly, he's probably scared a boy is taking a liking towards his daughter" Diana joked lying through her teeth. Haven replied with a shy smile in return. "I've just never seen someone look at someone like the way Beau does with you, it reminds me of how your father looked at me when we were younger" She rambled on with a knowing smile playing on her lips. Haven could feel her cheeks heating.

"Well I'll leave you alone you probably want some peace to yourself, I love you" Diana said declaring her leave not without giving one last kiss to her daughter's forehead leaving her to her thoughts. "Beau" Haven whispered to herself the thought of someone going to such lengths for her made her feel loved and she could feel her chest tighten just thinking about him and she didn't mind.
