Second Marriage novel Chapter 214

“Not my business?”

Manfred was stunned about that, since he never expected that she would say such words to hurt him.

“Charlotte, think carefully, are you serious?” Manfred grabbed her wrist and asked her.

Charlotte looked up at him and said, “Manfred, I told you I can’t be with you. Why don’t you give up? And Kennedy is my husband. How he treats me and how I feel is my own business.”

Manfred, “...”

“Are you really ok about that? Even though he’s really shaming you and using you? Charlotte, why are you so stupid?”

Charlotte pursed her lips and did not speak. Manfred did not give you but directly hug her.

“Come to me, I can give you the happiness you want. I will treat you much better than that Kennedy does.”

As his words fell, Manfred heard a low laugh.

Surprised, he backed away and saw a mocking smile on Charlotte’s face.

“You said you want to be good to me and that Kenney was using me and humiliating me. How about you?”

Manfred was stunned, “What do you mean?”

Charlotte looked calm and pulled her hand back. “Am I wrong? Whatever Kennedy does, whatever you say, I am the victim of a struggle between you two brothers.”

Manfred frowned, “Why do you think so?”

“It is the truth. Did you remember Reynold called me soon after I got married? You were there too. Reynold asked me to monitor Kennedy. In this marriage, you put me to Kennedy as a pawn. But you didn’t expect that I did not do as you said, so you changed your strategy. Do you think I will work for you since you are good or gentle to me, Manfred?”

Her words were powerful. Although her voice was soft, it was like a stone fell in Manfred’s heart, and like to give him a slap in the face.

Looking at Charlotte, Manfred could not say a word out.

“It looks like I am right.” Charlotte’s smile became more sarcastic and she pressed the button of the elevator.

Before she pressed the button, Manfred held her fingers and said in a tired tone.

“Yes, you are right. At first I did approach you with this purpose, but gradually I found that...my feelings for you are getting out of hand. Charlotte, I have violated my original intention and I love you.”

He spoke with a depth of feeling that touched everyone.

But Charlotte felt that he was just acting. She raised her lips and said, “Anyone can say nice words. Now that you know who I am, you should know that I am not an ordinary little girl, those nice words did not work to me.”

With that, Charlotte shook her hand off and pressed the elevator button. As soon as the door opened, she walked out of it.

“Never matter if you don’t believe me!” Seeing she was to leave, Manfred hurried to say, “But I really like you, I would like to give you time! Until the day you know it is the truth. But before that, can you promise me that you will take good care of yourself and never let Kennedy humiliate you again?”
