Speed Candles novel Chapter 6

Today was different from the past. No matter how vicious Emily was, she was still a tarnished figure. Winners took all since ancient times.

Xander was Wilfred’s secretary before, so he would naturally think about the feelings of his former boss. But there was no real power in his hand, so he couldn’t oppose Dorothy, who had taken over the power and became the new boss.

Emily stood at the door and heard their conversation. Then she walked in and first greeted Xander, “Mr. Rees, you can just do what my mom has told you. We are family.”

She deliberately emphasized the word “family”. The moment Dorothy saw her, she immediately became alert and defensive.

“Since Miss Morris has made the decision, I need no more talks.” Xander was also surprised to see her there, but she was still charged with murdering her own father, so he did not say much and left.

Dorothy and Emily were left in the room. When they made the eye contact, it was as if the lightnings had met.

Emily was Dorothy’s most hated person. She would never give up acting against her. Emily also knew she was accused of murdering her father, if she couldn’t defeat Dorothy, everyone would see her as a vicious daughter who killed her father.

“Mom, you are always concerned over our family. My father has just passed away for two years, and you rush to sell the company now.”

She said carelessly and even wanted to laugh.

“You’d better remember how your father died,” Dorothy said, “Morris Properties is just a shell company now. Do you really think your father had left much behind when he was alive?”

Hearing these words, Emily looked at her and reminded her coldly, “You can send more flowers to my father in the future. He loved jasmine the most when he was alive.”

“Emily,” Dorothy sneered and said, “You are really a pest. At the beginning, your father’s company was in a lot of difficulties. He wanted Sebastian to marry Louisa, so he could get the help from the Clark family. Your father died because he was so mad at you. Don’t think you are innocent.”

Emily sat on the sofa, got the cigarette case from the pocket, and lit up a cigarette. She laughed aggressively, “Oh, you are too naive. Do you think Sebastian really like your precious daughter? I have experienced that myself. Your daughter can’t get through it.”

She glanced at Dorothy’s furious look and snorted, “You have to thank me for saving your precious daughter’s life.”

“You are really shameless.”

Dorothy was so angry that she couldn’t even stand up. The fact that Emily was released from prison so quickly was a heavy blow to her.

“I’ve come back to see my poor father. Mom, I’ll leave now. I still have things to do!”

Emily finished speaking hypocritically. She didn’t care about how mad Dorothy was, and just got up and went out.

When Wilfred was still alive, Emily never asked about the company’s affairs, but that didn’t mean she knew nothing. Dylan Fox was a major shareholder in the company at present. As long as he cooperated with several stockholders to disagree with the acquisition case, then Dorothy’s plan would not be successful.

She called Xander to let him make an appointment with several senior executives of the company. Xander was always loyal and devoted, so he arranged them to meet in the D Restaurant in person.

Emily told Xander to arrange them to meet to talk about the company’s business, but when Emily arrived, she found they had ordered so many drinks in the private room.

After about two hours, Emily had run up and down to go to the bathroom three or four times. She also vomited twice. She was already drunk.

The corpulent Mr. Fox patted on her snow-white back and asked cantankerously, “Miss Morris, do you want another drink?”
