Chapter 19 

In the suite, Lucas touched the bruised corner of his mouth in the bathroom mirror and let out a sharp hiss.

“We haven’t seen each other in years, and the first thing you do when we meet is throw a punch at me. Seriously?”

He looked at the aloof man sitting on the sofa with a face full of sorrow.

Marc pursed his lips and remained silent. His mind was filled with images of Pearl from just before, and each of her words kept echoing in his ears.

“Is that really Pearl? With that bright and stunning appearance and those cold and mocking words? Seriously?” he wondered.

He found himself deeply engulfed in doubt.

Lucas sat across from him, lit a cigarette, and continued to complain, “I got beaten up by your woman last night and got punched by you this morning. I’m really having a run of bad luck. I mean, you two are really a fierce couple, like a perfect match. So, the question is, why did you get divorced?” 

Marc raised his gaze and said coldly, “Ex–wife.”

He was correcting what Lucas said about “a couple.”

Lucas choked on a puff of smoke, raising an eyebrow as he looked at Marc. “Why did you care about your ex–wife so much to rush over here just because I said she was in

Nanston? Bro, you’re being a bit too conflicted with your words.”

Marc frowned and ignored Lucas‘ gloating teasing. He said in a cold tone, “Stop talking nonsense. Who on earth is Pearl Shepard?”

“What Pearl Shepard? Her surname is Woolery, and her given name is Pearl. ‘Pearl Shepard‘ is totally a fake name.”

Lucas opened a bottle of red wine and poured two glasses. With a sympathetic smile, he looked at Marc, who was giving him a cold stare. He felt sorry for Marc, who had been

deceived for three years. He couldn’t bear to break the news to him. “She is the legitimate. heiress of the Woolery Group, Pearl Woolery.”

The name Pearl Woolery was like a magic bullet that exploded in the ears of Marc, leaving him perplexed and astonished.

Various details and doubtful points these days intertwined and merged into a thread. The woman who disappeared and appeared suddenly and the other details fit together.

“Pearl Woolery. So, this is her true identity,” said Marc inwardly.

Upon seeing her ex–husband early in the morning, Pearl was feeling extremely complicated

emotions.

As a result, her mood worsened even more upon seeing Manfred in the office, especially when Manfred sat in her chair with a smile and called out “Pearl” emotionally.

She felt goosebumps forming all over her body upon seeing the disgusting man.

Pearl’s expression turned cold before turning her head. “Who let him in?”

“I apologize, Ms. Woolery. It was due to our negligence. I will handle it immediately.”

The general manager’s assistant, Mason Turner, apologized and called for security to take away Manfred forcibly.

Seeing the seriousness of the situation, Manfred immediately stood up from the chair and walked toward Pearl with a forced smile. “What’s the matter, Pearl? I just arrived, and you want to chase me away?”

He spoke with a nasal tone, acting all girly like a big, tough guy trying to act cute. It was unknown if Tina fell for this kind of thing, but Pearl had no other thoughts except to kick

him out.

“Three years passed, and this man has become even more cheesy,” she thought to herself.

As Manfred approached her, Pearl frowned and said coldly, “Stay away from me.”

Manfred couldn’t help but feel embarrassed when Pearl said this.
