Sweet Wife in Hidden Marriage novel Chapter 29

Lilian was standing very unsteadily due to the pain on her legs. Sebastian’s push made her stepped back until she hit the solid chest of another man. Archibald had her back. He supported her and helped her to get balanced.

Sebastian didn't even give her a second look. He slammed the door close hard and drove the car away.

Lilian stood still and saw the car sliding into the darkness of the night. She wanted to laugh but she really couldn't. She didn't even know what to feel now. There seemed to be something in her throat, and it was choking her.

Eleanor followed them and went out. Sebastian and Joanna were gone. When she saw Archibald and Lilian were standing in front of the gate hand-in-hand, she raised her eyebrows and laughed.

"Mr. Hawkins. The celebration is still going on. Why don't you go back and take a seat?" She paused for a few seconds and then said to Lilian. "Come with me, Lilian. I need to talk to you." Then she dragged Lilian away before she agreed.

In a secluded corner outside the hotel, Eleanor started scolding and swearing, "I told you to stay in the ancestral hall. Why are you here? Everybody in Millpond knows you now! Now get back and don't you dare to ruin this birthday celebration."

Eleanor then went back to the hotel, leaving Lilian behind. She thought Archibald must be back in the celebration because she didn't see her here.

Lilian's lips twitched. It was always her fault.

She walked off the long driveway of the hotel, and then she took off her high heels. She walked along the street, barefoot, without noticing the coldness on the ground and coarse sand. Her mind went empty.

Eleanor didn't like her, and she had been used to the old woman's sarcasm and mocking. What Lilian couldn't accept is how capricious Sebastian. The man had made the decision to announce their relationship, but he changed his mind the moment he saw Joanna fell to the ground.

After all, Sebastian's dissatisfaction was momentary. He wanted to declare his sovereignty over her just because she was legally his wife, and he would never let her be with other men because that would be embarrassing.

She heard somebody approaching from behind. Soon the tall figure of a man showed up before her. She looked at him from feet to head. Then her eyes were fixed on his face. He was standing with his back to a streetlamp. His face was in shadow, yet those two eyes were shining clear and charming light.

Archibald. It was him, again. She frowned.

Archibald looked at the messy woman with high heels in her hand. Her petty and fair feet were on the cold ground. The night wind made her hair even messier.

He frowned and snatched the high heels from her. Then he held her up by the waist.

Lilian was startled. All she could do was put her arms around his neck. She looked at the man's handsome face and exclaimed, "You..."

Archibald walked to the side of the street with her in his arms. He put her on the bench and squatted in front of her. His hot big palm grabbed her cold feet, which made her shiver. She struggled to withdraw her feet, and screamed, "Archibald!"

"Stop struggling!" He yelled, which sounded very possessive. Lilian was startled. She stopped moving.

He took out a handkerchief and wiped away the dust on her feet. Lilian hated this ticklish feeling. She wanted to laugh, but she didn't dare. Therefore, she could only bite her lips and put up with it. When his warm fingertips accidentally touched her feet, she blushed.

After Archibald cleaned his feet, she thought this was finally over. However, he suddenly lifted her skirt. Before she gasped and screamed, he had already stopped moving. He rolled his skirt to the knee and watched the bruises on it. Then he looked at her and said nothing. He lifted her up and carried her to a black sedan pulled over on the other side of the road.
