Lysander instinctively clutched the collar tightly, covering her exposed skin before taking in the current state of the house.

The window had been shattered, leaving a gaping hole. Not only was the glass broken, but the wooden frame itself had split down the middle. The curtains flapped wildly in the wind.

With no window as a barrier, a lot of rainwater had entered the house, mingling with shards of glass and splintered wood scattered all over the floor, along with streaks of blood. The room, already in disarray due to the fight, closely resembled a murder scene.

“Josiah, are you okay?” Lysander asked.

Josiah cast a cold glance at her. “If I had killed him today, would you have called the police on me?”

Lysander remained silent.

“Will you, or will you not?”

“I will.”

He nudged the man lying on the ground with his foot.

There was absolutely no response.

The living room had transformed from a scene of utter chaos to complete silence. Lysander hesitated before speaking. “Did you hear me screaming for help earlier?”

Josiah replied irritably, “No.”

Lysander was speechless.

“Do you think I spend my nights eavesdropping at your door? Or that I’ve bugged your house to listen to everything that happens inside?”
