Chapter 474 The First To Give In

Upon seeing the situation, Tiffany let out a long sigh. “Jose, it’s been many years, yet she remains your favorite person.”

With a softer tone, Josiah explained, “There’s nothing between her and me anymore, and there won’t be in the future. I’ve told you this many times before.”

“But she still holds a place in your heart.” Tiffany was certain of this. “However… it’s only natural that you can’t let go of Lyss.”

Josiah furrowed his brows. “What?”

Tiffany replied earnestly, “Lyss is so kind and perfect, so it’s only natural for you to like her. Don’t deceive yourself anymore. If you truly like her, go and reconcile with her. Just make sure it doesn’t interfere with your collaboration with my father.”

The more Josiah listened, the deeper his frown became. He really had no experience in appeasing children.

“Tiffany, we agreed on this before.”

“Yes, we agreed we would announce our engagement to the world, to make Lyss and stop bothering you. But what I don’t understand is that you say you don’t care about her, yet you still dream of her. So, am I here to separate you two or to rekindle your love?”

“Jose, you two are so much older than me. When you first fell for Lyss, I was just a kid trailing behind you, engrossed in watching The Powerpuff Girls. On the day of my birthday party, Lyss claimed she was helping me to network. I did as you advised, mentioning our arranged marriage as much as possible in her presence. I could tell… she was holding back, but she was genuinely upset.”

There was an age difference of eight years between them.

Faced with a young woman who still seemed like a child, Josiah, despite his urgency, could only force himself to be as gentle as possible. He suggested, “Tiffany, how about this? Let’s end our agreement. Once we return, I’ll clarify things with your father. You won’t have to pretend to be my fiancée anymore, and I’ll handle the situation with Lysanne myself.”

Biting her lip, Tiffany’s eyes still held a touch of confusion and bewilderment. “Jose, I truly don’t understand what you want me to do.”

“Starting from today, you don’t have to do anything anymore; just consider this as a leisurely vacation since you don’t come back to the country often. There are many historical sites in Apex City worth visiting. I’ll arrange for someone to accompany you for a few days, and once the summit is over, we can head back together. Then, I’ll have a chat with your father.”

“You have someone you like,” Tiffany stated. “But it’s not Lyss, is it?” 

Hearing her speak so candidly, there was a sense of exhilaration in Josiah’s heart. He nodded. “Yes.”

“I get it now,” Tiffany said. “So, you wanted me to declare myself a make the woman you’re fond of jealous, didn’t you?”

“You wanted her to be jealous, but for that, she needed to see us together, right? I’m trying to recall all the people we’ve met when we were together, but we met so many people at the birthday party that I really can’t remember who she could be…”

Josiah gave a light chuckle. “Are you really that curious?”

“Of course! I’d love to meet the woman who could make you choose her over Lyss.”

Josiah was quite amused, a smile playing on his lips. “Fine. When the opportunity arises, I’ll reintroduce you.”

“All right, when exactly would that be? I’m heading back overseas next month. Will there be enough time for us to meet?” 

Josiah ruffled her bangs. “Always so curious, aren’t you, kid?”

Tiffany hastily protected her hairstyle. “Jose, I’m already an adult! Stop treating me like a child.”

“You know, you’re still far from being all grown up. Your dad was worried sick when he spoke to me about you previously. He’s terrified that you’ll be deceived by some bad boys abroad. It’s to the point that he wants to assign a few bodyguards to accompany you when you return overseas, yet he’s also afraid that their presence might interfere with your normal dating life and cause you to miss out on your best years. In short, he’s caught in a dilemma.” 

Tiffany pouted. “Jose, don’t try to change the subject. When are you going to introduce me to the woman who has stolen your heart?”

While she spoke, she playfully pointed at the location of his heart and winked at him, a teasing irnile on her face. 

Josiah couldn’t help but chuckle. “I’ll try my best to win her over before you leave.”

“Oh, so it’s not settled yet? Jose, when did you become so impotent?” 

Josiah feigned anger, admonishing her, “Don’t speak nonsense

Tiffany wore an innocent expression.
