The Genius Delta novel Chapter 15

Typically, I’m a distracted eater. So no one thinks twice about me sitting down, loading my plate, and digging in without much conversation. They always chalk it up to my brain going a mile a minute, and I’m probably eager to get back to my lab. And they would be right. But tonight is different. I still want to get to my lab, though not to work. Today I’m in a hurry to fuck or at least fool around with my mate.

“Is everything okay?” Delilah asked. “Was there some urgent pack business?” She cocked her head, blinking innocent green eyes at me like she hadn’t just cock blocked me a few moments ago.

“It’s fine, Delilah. It’s being handled.” Persephone answered her sister.

Mikali arched his eyebrow from his seat at the table. I doubt it escaped his attention that Delilah’s question was directed at me, but Persephone answered instead. Annai was giving me a similar look while still managing to stuff her face. I won’t call her out on how much she’s got on her plate. She’s pregnant, and if I’ve learned anything, you don’t fuck with pregnant she-wolves.

“It’s rude to stare, Mikali.” I taunted before I shoveled a forkful of mashed potatoes into my mouth.

“It’s also rude not to make introductions.” He countered.

“If it’ll get you to stop looking at me like that.” I rolled my eyes. “You know of the Fayte sisters. Delilah and Persephone.” I gestured to each as I said their names.

“They are here for summer, though Persephone’s stay has become permanent since she’s your new Delta female,” I explained. “Persephone, Delilah, meet Mikali Hamilton and his mate Annai. Mikali is one of the pack doctors and a Luna guard.” I introduced, gesturing with a turkey leg at them.

“Priceless.” I put my fork down to hold my camera up to take. The looks on Mikali and Annai’s faces were priceless. I snickered, texting the image to Kurt.

Me: Should I expect this look from everyone I tell that Persephone is my mate?

I knew I hadn’t told him yet, and this was just an amusing way to go about it. I groaned as my phone blew up, and I suddenly realized it wasn’t just my text thread with Kurt I sent that to. It’s the group chat with him, David, Mikali, and Tanner.

David: CALLED IT!!!

Kurt: Excuse me, Isis and I called it first when we met Persephone

Tanner: That wasn’t “calling it,” Kurt. That was suggesting how catastrophic that mating would be to the world at large.

Mikali: Still in shock. Does this mean we get to get him back for EVERY cockblock he has ever dished out?

Me: Mikali, I have been cock blocked by her sister twice, work the whole fucking day, and Aurelia. I owe you an apology basket. But cock block me, and I build the ultimate glitter bomb and put it in each of your homes.

“I feel like we are missing something, ladies.” Persephone shook her head and leaned over to look at my phone just as her phone started to buzz.

I snickered as I glanced over and saw she had multiple new text notifications from Isis, Crista, Katrina, and André. So much for the time difference as a reason not to tell her older sister.

“You told Kurt, and he couldn’t keep his trap shut, so Isis texted in our group chat.” Persephone groaned. “What are these people even doing awake? The sun isn’t even up in Sicily.”

“Well, I don’t want to assume or guess why André would be awake. But for Katrina and Crista, the kids may be fussy.” Delilah suggested.

David: That is NOT cool!

Kurt: Glitter bomb my castle and regret it

Tanner: Please don’t. I am NOT dealing with Zelma freaking out over that.

Mikali: Do not

Me: At least the boundaries are set. And TY Kurt, you just put Persephone in the middle of a barrage of messages from her family whom she’d planned to tell when it wasn’t before dawn in Sicily.

Kurt: I’m sure they were already up. Crista and Kat have kids. And André, well, he probably got up for a morning fuck before Darren takes his insane 10k run.
