The Lycan King novel Chapter 63

Nikolai

"Max has something to share." I announced as soon as I stepped out of the closet, fully dressed.

Ava, Max and Natalia were sitting on the couches in the sitting area in our room. I sat besides Ava, took her hand in mine and placed our hands on my thigh. I needed to feel her right now.

He glanced at me before looking at Natalia. "I killed the man who kidnapped you. His name was Lionel Preston."

Natalia didn't even bat an eye at that. "Good," she smirked instead.

Max gave her a short nod. I know he is still squeamish about the week when the devil had taken over his body and didn't want to say anything that would upset his mate.

"He was the leader of the rebels of all the vampire kingdoms. Something like rogues in the werewolf world. But the difference is that they don't support the Vampire-Werewolf Peace Treaty and, unlike most people, weren't afraid to say it out loud," he told us. "They had taken upon themselves to kill any and every werewolf that comes their way."

"Why would they do that?" Ava asked, looking worried.

"Werewolves and Vampires have hated each other since the dawn of time. It is known," Max said. "That was until lives got tangled up and they started finding their mates in each other. That's why the treaty was drawn. To protect the sacred bond of mates." His eyes fell on Natalia and he gave her a small smile.

"Everyone knows the rebels exist but no one knew where. I used a bait and caught one rebel Vampire. He lead me to their lair. I went back home, took my weapons and went to the property they were hiding in. I killed them to the last man. And woman." His nostrils flared in anger before his lips curled up in a familiar malicious smile. "They got what they deserved."

"What did you do?" He has always been a creative bastard.

"Lionel had a sister. She was the one who injected Talia with wolfsbane. I ripped Lionel's heart out in front of her eyes and forced her to eat it before killing her." His eyes shone with pride.

I'll be sure to try that. A smile slowly formed on my face but Ava's hand tightened in mine. She looked shocked.

I know that seeing Max, he doesn't look like a bad guy. But this fucker is worse than me. I'm a hundredth percent sure that he has done worse things in his life than was he was is tell ys right now.

"Wish I could've been there." Nat mumbled, sad to have missed the opportunity.

I squeezed Ava's hand.?They were bad men who have killed hundreds of innocent werewolves.

"Next time, princess." He winked at her.

"When I was ripping the heart out of Lionel's body, his sister tried to attack me from the back but I felt a guy hold her back. He helped me kill her. I didn't know him but he said he was honoured to see, and I quote, 'The Legendary Maximilian Romanoff'?in action." Max grinned. "I was happy to meet a fan so I invited him to my club which was coincidentally in the same neighbourhood. But he said he had work to attend but promised me he will visit soon. Told me to give him a call when I was going to visit so he could come meet me." He shook his phone in the air.

"However, he dropped me to the club in his car. When I asked him what he was doing here, he said that Preston was creating troubles in his pack and then he thanked me for doing the job. He also said that he was opening a club in the city." His eyes fell on Ava's slowly widening eyes.

Her hand gripped mine tightly.

"His name is Emilio Gonzalez."

Ava's breath hitched. I gripped her hand tighter.

You are safe with me, Moya Lyubov.

Her head snapped to mine and she stared in my eyes and then slowly relaxed.

"This is the perfect opportunity for us. We need to take action and quick." Max said softly. "And Kol has come up with a perfect plan. Well as perfect as it can be in this situation."

"What is it?" Ava whispered, her eyes lowering.

My heart clenched. I know this will hurt her. In a way she has never been before. But it has to be done. I looked at Max. He gave me a sharp nod. He knows it has to be done too.

"Max is going to befriend him first. He will make them think that he hates us. He will say that he wants to massacre the entire Rogue Pack and will lure Emilio to join forces. They enter our lands, we surround them and kill them all." I gave her a short version of the elaborate plan I had made.

"But we can't let them come to our homes!"Ava quickly said.

"Of course we can. I have planned it all." I told her.

"But there are innocent people here and families and children!" She looked around at all of us frantically, trying to make us understand.

"Which is why the wolves will fight harder." Max said.

"And we know our lands the best, we can use it to our advantage," Natalia said. "We are not as big as Montana, Avalyn. Nor are we equipped to climb mountains and attack the pack where everyone will join forces against us."

"He will only bring the men he trusts the most and those that are the best if he comes here. Also, without a lot of weapons because he will think we are sleeping in our beds and are not prepared for war." I told her. "It's the only way."

"I don't want revenge. I'm fine here. I'm happy." Her eyes widened. "Please."

"He has violated you in a way that can't be forgiven, Love. I'm not going to let him live any longer." I told her.

"But I forgive him." She quickly said.

What?

"He doesn't matter to me anymore, Nik. He is my past. But you are my present and my future. My family is my present and future." She looked at all of us pleadingly.

"I don't. Emilio will die at my hands. So will Emmanuel for what he did to mom." A growl left my throat that the reminder.

I had been too dumb to not investigate more about her death. She wasn't even fucking dead!

"What about her?" Max's eyes turned red.

"Remember how we raided packs in a fruitless attempt to find her killer?" I asked him.

He nodded. Of course he does. We spent two whole years hiding and running in different packs. That's how we found Natalia too.

"She wasn't dead. Emilio's fucking father—Emmanuel had taken her captive. As a fucking slave." I growled.

A loud snarl left his mouth and he stood up angrily but Nat caught him and kissed him to calm him down. They looked like they were talking through the mind-link as well.

I closed my eyes and thought about all the ways I would kill those fucktards. It helped me bring down my temper. I was so close that I could almost feel the victory.

After a couple of minutes, Max sat down on the seat again. Nat sat on his lap and placed her arm around his shoulder. She was the only one who will be able to control him anyways.

"Nothing is going to stop me from killing them." There was fire in his eyes as he looked at me. "You either work this plan out well or else I'm going to kill him. I don't give a fuck who dies."

"You?can die." Nat pointed out.

"I said I don't give a fuck." He hissed, his eyes flashing red before going blue again.

"Fine. Then I will come with you." Nat said and then the couple looked at us.

"He won't attack us like that. He will send his wolves to do the dirty work. He probably only came to Preston's house because he was in the area." Ava whispered.

"Oh he will come." Max leaned forward. "We will make it personal. Hurt his ego. He will come."

"How?" She asked him, looking unsure.

"That's where you both come in." Max said and I literally heard Ava's heartbeat skip.

I gave him a look and he narrowed his eyes but leaned back in the seat again.

"Max owns a club in the city. An S&M club to be exact." I rubbed circles on her hand. "Max had told him that his mate was visiting her pack. And now,?I?will be dropping our dear friend Natalia back to her mate, her Master." I gave Max a hard look. I'm not budging on this. Ava is?not?coming. He doesn't know the depth of Ava's scars and issues. I don't know them entirely either. And I have no intention of putting her in a position where I will.

Max gave me a look which said we will talk later. So I continued. "The only way to ruffle his feathers is through us. I will do exactly that, just enough to renew his anger for us but not attack me in front of everyone. Then the next step will be to anger a Max who already 'hates us'. We need to keep Nat safe at all times because she will be the most vulnerable target. But he already knows Max is a psycho, especially when it comes to his mate. He won't touch her. But that doesn't mean Mikhail, her best friend, won't want to say good bye with a hug. That will make Max snap. And he will claim he wants all of us dead. He will lure Emilio to join him. You know the rest." I told her my plan.

"No." Ava's eyes lowered. I could feel her disapproval. But she was scared. I'll make her understand. "No." Ava said again, more firmly as she looked each one of us in the eye.

"I don't want to fight. He is a monster. It's—it's not safe." Her chin trembled. "I'm happy now. I don't want you to do it.?Please." She grasped my hand and held on for dear life.

"We do not have the numbers to successfully take down the Monatana Pack. Maybe with the Vampires, yes. But too many people will die. Until now, I never cared for others much. But you changed me. You showed me that while this is a bad world, there are good people in it too. Which is why I would use the option of a war as the back up plan. This is the safest plan and it makes sense the most." I explained so she will understand. "Please tell me you understand."

Her hair tumbled down her back in waves but the few caressing her face turned silver when my arm brushed against them. What we have is literally magic. Ava is magic. And I won't let this dull her magic. Which is why she needs to stay away.

"What do you need me to do?" She whispered.

"Nothing. I need you to stay here. Safe and out of reach of Emilio." She flinched at his name but snatched her hand from mine.

"No." She growled. "I am strong, Nikolai. I have magical powers too." She added.

"I'm not asking, Avalyn. My decision is final." I said, my tone leaving no room for arguments.

"But I'm your Luna!" Her eyes flashed at me. "What happened to always being with each other? I refuse to let you go there. You?can't?see him. You?can't. I wont let you." She scowled.

This shocked me. This is the first time she has talked to me like it. And I don't like it. At all.

I narrowed my eyes at her. "Why?"

She stood up in anger and created a distance between us. I didn't like it at all.

"Because I'm telling you Nikolai. He's not worth it. I don't want you to do this. I don't want you to put your life in danger along with the lives of everyone else we care about." Her hair was slowly turning silver. "I don't want that monster to come into our homes and put the entire pack in danger! You don't know him like I do. He is crazy. I won't let you go. You are not going." Her chest heaved.

I could feel the room charged up with her power. And I know that if I don't say the right thing now, the room will end up destroyed and the people in it hurt. And we don't have that time.

But when have I ever been the one to say the right thing?

"Speak to me like that again, Avalyn, and see what happens." I hissed and walked to her.

My body froze and I felt myself being elevated. Her angry pale blue eyes flashed at me.

"Put me down Avalyn." I gritted angrily.

"Avalyn, calm dow—" Nat tried to come near Ava but she flicked her away, making Nat crash against the wall behind her.

Okay. Now I'm truly angry. She can't go around hurting people like this just because she is angry. That's not how it works. She let's her feelings consume her and it's not right. She needs to learn how to control herself.

Max was about to say something but I put my hand up, effectively shutting him up.

"Tell me you won't do it. Give me your word." She demanded, her eyes icy.

"Put me down Avalyn." I snapped in my Master tone.

I was on the floor in a second. I grunted as I caught my footing but it was of no use because I was in the air again. I glared at her. Even the Master command worked for a split second before she decided to let her anger take the control.

"Give me your word Nikolai." She looked angry now, angry that I used that tone on her. Well that makes two of us.

"I will fucking do it." I growled at her.

Her eyes flashed again before I flew back with force. The window was open so I flew out of the balcony but the tip of my fingers caught on the glass railing. I would have cracked a bone or two if I had fallen down with so much force. This girl is going to get it today. I hissed myself up and caught it with both hands before I jumped in again.

Ava was looking at me with wide eyes, her hair brown again.?Now?she realises what she has done.?After, her anger has subsided, when the damage is already done.

"Stay here." I gritted at her and then walked out of the bedroom, Max and Nat following me.
