Chapter 204 The Search For A Doctor

When Jared met Walter after arriving at the Sullivan residence, he asked immediately, “Mr. Grange, is Abbot Erasmus back yet?”

Walter nodded in response. “Yes, Abbot Erasmus is back!”

“Mr. Grange, please bring me there to see him quickly!” Jared could not wait for another second.

“Mr. Chance, Abbot Erasmus is back indeed, but…”

Walter appeared to be in a dilemma.

“Mr. Grange, just be frank with me. If it’s money, I can gather the funds,” Jared said.

“Mr. Grange, no matter what the price is, just tell us. That spiritual brush and cinnabar rosary are necessary items for healing Mrs. Chance’s eyes. She can’t be healed without them!” At that moment, Josephine spoke up.

She knew what Jared wanted with those two items. When he gave her the prescription, those were listed there, and she did really search for them meticulously. However, her efforts were in vain. In fact, she even offered a reward, but those things were rare and hard to come by.

Walter shook his head. “Mr. Chance, it is not money that Abbot Erasmus wants. Money is of no importance to those who have dedicated their lives to their spiritual beliefs. Abbot Erasmus has a daughter who is seriously ill. They have consulted many well-known doctors, but none of them could help her. So, Mr. Chance, he hopes that you can heal her with the spiritual brush and the cinnabar rosary.”

Instantly, Jared understood. Walter must have told Abbot Erasmus about his healing skills. That must have been the only reason why Erasmus would have thought of that as the condition for loaning those precious items. Jared was confident that he could heal anyone provided they were not dying of old age or organ failure.

“Mr. Grange, what is Abbot Erasmus’ daughter suffering from?” Jared asked.

“I don’t know for sure. Though, it’s clear that she has always been weak since she was a child, and her body is frail and cold like someone who had been submerged in ice. She sleeps with many blankets every day, but nothing has worked throughout the years. They have sought help from many doctors in many places, but their efforts were futile. Recently, they traveled to a distant land to seek medical treatment, but it yielded no results! For his daughter, Abbot Erasmus even posted medical notices in monasteries and gave to charity in the hopes of accumulating merits so that his daughter’s health would improve. However, there are no signs of improvement after so many years,” Walter explained.

“Her body is cold like being submerged in ice?”

Jared’s lips parted slightly as if struck by a thought. Then, he said to Walter, “Mr. Grange, please take us there. I can treat Abbot Erasmus’ daughter!”
