Since Everly had just returned home, she had nothing much to deal with.

In the afternoon, she went to the Lamont Group with Maverick.

She hadn't got a Chinese driver's license, so it was Maverick who drove.

After arriving at The Lamont Group, she got much work handed over to her, and Maverick was also very busy. Therefore, they didn't bicker like they did at LAL anymore.

Everly was very persistent in her work.

Moreover, she had boasted that she would never resign, so she would delve into the real work. It could not be denied that actually she got a promotion. The Lamont Group provided good benefits.

Therefore, she contacted Hendrix and asked him to send a chauffeur to pick Edmond up.

Everly checked the time. At about 4:30 pm, Maverick called her and told her to be prepared for a dinner with him in the evening.

It should be a bona fide secretarial duty this time.

Everly had no choice but to agree. She called Gloria and told her that she couldn't go home for dinner because she needed to go to a dinner party with her boss.

Everly hadn't told Hendrix that she had become Maverick's secretary.

On the way to the dinner party, Everly and Maverick sat in the same car.

Along the way, Maverick was busy with his work and seemed to have no time to talk to her.

Maverick heard her talk with someone in fluent English on the phone.

Maverick stood in front of the elevator while Everly was chatting on the phone.

He looked at the smiling face reflected on the elevator door.

She had never smiled at him like this.

Suddenly, he felt annoyed.

Everly could clearly feel Maverick's discontent. She suddenly realized that she was still at work and shouldn't make personal calls. So she immediately lowered her voice and said, "Great. See you then. I will show you around. Well, I'm busy now. I gotta go. Bye-bye."
