Alpha's Blind Luna novel Chapter 38

I leaned against the balcony railing of the bedroom. It was maybe about 2 a.m. and Auri had been right. The storm blew through for about 5 hours but now the night sky was clear. Taking a deep breath of a cigarette, I blew it out into the air. I had never been one to smoke but after the training and re-education, Auri and I would sometimes sneak off to have a smoke. Apparently, if Bryan or Hector caught her, she would be in deep shit. Since her body no longer healed like a normal werewolf, it was actually bad for her.

She still did it with Morgan and now me. I wasn’t about to tell off the woman who I had seen destroy an entire camp of wolves what she could or couldn’t do. Shifting, I winced as my legs and ass radiated soreness. Sighing and looking over the ocean, I took another drag.

“I didn’t know you smoked.”

I turned to see Vale, naked, leaning against the balcony doorway. Taking him in, I exhaled out my nose, the smoke rising between us.

“There is a lot we can learn about each other, I think.”

Vale chuckled and came out, taking the railing of the balcony in his hands and leaning forward. “You’re right. I mean, You took over your pack when I was four.”

I winced, letting off an awkward chuckle. “Thanks for putting that thought into my head. Now I need another smoke.”

“You’re welcome.” He flashed me a smile. “It must have been hard. My dad took over at 15 when half his pack was killed and even that was young.”

I leaned back against the railing, looking back into the room. “I had help. For better or worse. The Elders helped and Leo helped.” My head fell a bit.

Vale leaned into my arm. “I heard about your Beta. I’m sorry.”

“Actions have consequences.” I sighed. “I learned later on that the Elders had been using me to push their agenda into the pack and by the time I figured it out, it was too late. I was never the Alpha my brother wanted to be, or that the pack needed.”

“Apparently, they needed you bad enough that they made you Alpha at thirteen. I mean, they had other options.” Vale shook his head. “You were exactly what the pack needed. No matter if you think you were or not. You protected that pack and you were their Alpha for what? Eighteen years? Nineteen? You were a good Alpha, Ezekiel. You will be Alpha of this pack as well.”

I blinked for a moment and turned to look at him. “What?”

He sighed. “I’ve got so much on my plate right now, being King isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. Especially after basically an entire generation gap of no king. I wouldn’t be able to handle both the shit going on and a pack.”

“But Vale…”

He stood up from his lean and cupped my cheek, brushing across my five o’clock shadow. The sparks made my knees start to shake.

“I need you to take care of the pack, Ezekiel. The everyday things. I learned the basics but I never able to put it into practice. Honestly, I would feel more comfortable with the High Council than one of the offices here. I need you. I need your expertise and your knowledge.” Vale’s lips rested on my forehead. “You are everything I need. I didn’t even realize it, but I do. I needed your help because you complete me.”

My heart thrummed in my chest and I couldn’t help the smile that crept onto my face. “You need me, do you?”

He nodded, Vale’s head fell to the crook of my neck. I squeaked a bit as he licked my new mark. My cock twitched and suddenly my boxers felt more constrained than they had a moment ago.

“Vale…” I groaned, grabbing his arms. “I need you too. I needed you to take me out of the hole I was digging myself and my pack into. I needed you to help free me and show me I could be more. But…I…”

“Can and will stand beside me? Ezekiel, please. Don’t you think it’s time you became the kind of Alpha that you can be proud of? Where you can stop telling everyone you aren’t meant to be Alpha.”

I sighed and nodded. “Whatever you need, my king.”

Vale groaned. “Don’t call me that.”

I smiled and pulled his head up from my shoulder. A mischievous smile plastered on my face. “But you are my king.”

Vale smiled. “Then if I ordered you to come back to bed…”

“As you wish, my king.”

I smirked and allowed Vale to lead me back into the room. He climbed on the bed and pulled me onto it. Climbing in, he pulled me close and I curled up against him. His arm fell across my waist and I was pinned. Sighing, I just snuggled in closer, taking in his scent and the sparks. My mind raced a mile a minute though.

For some reason, even with Rose I ended up as the little spoon more open then not. So I was used to it but I could feel Faris grumbling in my head. We were still of Alpha blood but the thought of taking over the pack side of the Golden Moon scared me. More because I saw how Auri, Hector and Bryan worked seamlessly together to run the whole operation.

“Ezekiel, stop stressing about it and go to sleep.” Vale mumbled.

I chuckled. “Yes, my king.”

Closing my eyes, I let go of the thoughts and worries until tomorrow. For now, I could enjoy the company and the love from my mate.
