Be My Mate novel Chapter 6

Sabrina's POV

"You are so beautiful Sabrina..." Xander says to me as we lay cuddled in bed.

"I'd spend every night with you even if my life was in danger, I'd risk it all just to have this with you." He says, cupping my face with his big hand as I look in to his eyes.

His other hand drawing circles on my back with my head on his chest, his heartbeat calming my nerves. He was saying the sweetest things and here I am, worried about today.

The day he meets his second chance mate. The day his life changes and it won't include me in it any longer.

"I can't believe this is it. We had plans for our future.." He continues.

"We did but I guess we will never get to see them through." I say sadly.

Last night was what every night had been with Xander, magical. We can go from animalistic to pure love making and that's what we did.

Can't say we had enough sleep and I'm not complaining. If I could add extra hours to the night, I would have but that's not how life works even though I'm a god.

"Hunter thinks I shouldn't be forced to be with or without anyone." I say.

"Oh yeah?" He asks and I nod my head yes.

"He's a stubborn old man who just wants to see his daughter happy but we can't risk it, for the sake of the pack. I can't risk people getting hurt for my happiness." I say.

And once again, my happiness taking the back seat when it comes to decision making. I guess more happiness awaits me with Aiden so is it fair to complain?

"In another life, I will have you and Adrastos as my family. Maybe even more children but I'm happy to have experienced our love Sabrina even though it was short, I got to experience a love so great and powerful." He says as the sun lights up our room, signaling the beginning of the new day.

People start walking about just outside his room. Loud chatter and laughter fill the hallways as sadness fills this room. Our time together at an end but neither of us ready to let go.

"I have to say, losing to your brother was a bruise to the ego. I'm a lycan of alpha blood and he's just a beta blooded werewolf but he showed me flames yesterday. I still can't believe he's through to the final." Xander says and I chuckle.

"You forget my brother was in training for almost ten years in the heavenly realm. He was blessed by the previous moon goddess with immense strength and he is a tactical fighter so I'm not surprised. Probably watched every fight you've been in and caught on to your style, nerdy brother of mine." I say with so much pride.

"Can't wait to see him fight again today. Everyone is excited for today and I guess we have to get up before they begin..." Xander says to me.

We remain quiet, not wanting to pull away from our loving embrace.

A few more minutes pass and I pull away, wanting to get this agony over with.

I quickly get dressed and turn around to face Xander, who was still in bed.

Naked.

"I'm gonna head off to freshen up and get changed. I'll meet you at the arena?" I ask and he nods his head yes but his eyes held so much sadness.

I quickly peck his lips and leave his room before the tears fall down my face. I disappear off back to my castle to cry some more.

I find Evan waiting for me. I quickly wipe away the tears and make my way to him.

"Your Serene highness, your sister needs you." Evan says to me.

"What's wrong?" I ask and he looks at me with sadness.

"I'd rather show you. Your mother is with her now." He says as he leads the way inside my castle, my new permanent home.

We walk up the stairs to the many bedrooms on the first floor. Evan opens the room on our right and what was inside broke my heart to pieces.

Josey was on the floor, pulling out her hair as mother tries to calm her down.

I run in and quickly pull her in for a hug. I look at my mother alarmingly and she just looks like she's about to break down.

"No! You shut up." Josey screams out.

"You shut up!" She says again and I look at Evan.

"Someone explain this to me." I say.

"It appears Josey is having a power struggle with her wolf and vampire." Evan says to me and I gasp.

She wriggles herself out of my hold before shifting in to her wolf. Power radiating off of her in volumes as her wolf makes her mark as the supreme being in her body.

Her eyes kept flicking back and forth, her vampire clearly not backing down.

"Sedate her until we find a way to deal with this and not only her wolf, we need to sedate her entire being. Let her rest, please!" Mother says.

"Sedate her vampire. I want to talk to my sister, the one I know." I say and Evan nods before two elders walk in. Mother and I help them pin down Josey, who fights us and still in her wolf form.

We eventually succeed in sedating her vampire and I can feel her wolf relax, shifting back to reveal a very tired Josey.

She looks at me and mouths a thank you before passing out. Mother carries her to the bed and places her on top of it.

"How did this happen?" I ask.

"I think Josey has been struggling for some time and she kept this from us. My poor baby..." Mother says.

I get on the bed to be closer to Josey. Wanting to be as close as possible.

How did I miss this? How could I be stupid enough to think the vampire won't fight for control?

"Is there a way to kill it without killing her?" I ask out loud.

"We would probably need a witch for that." Evan responds.
