“Who are you texting?” Gwen turned to look at Caroline while driving. 

Caroline put her phone away. “No one.” 

She didn’t want anyone else to know about this. She could just suffer the pain in silence. 

“It must be Kirk,” Gwen said impatiently. 

“But since he agreed to lend me his wife for this trip, I won’t complain about him.” 

Caroline smiled and didn’t refute. “Where is the hotel?” 

They had been on the road for more than an hour, but Gwen didn’t seem to have any intention of

“This should be fine, right?” Gwen said with a smile as she approached Caroline. But the next second, the smile on her face froze. 

Caroline followed her line of sight suspiciously. When she saw the newcomer, the smile on her face quickly disappeared.
