Her Majesty novel Chapter 41

Jacob Jiang's face darkened and he kept his mouth shut.

I finally understood these two men were not here to have a talk. They wanted to deal with Mayor Chang in the name of me. I was just an excuse or a pawn for them.

My mind quickly weighed the pros and cons. If Jacob pursued Ben’s identity, the project would be doomed, and now Housin had Jacob on his back. If we sue him, it could not be succeed, but it was a dilemma for Mayor Chang. He did not want to confront with Jacob Jiang too.

So when the two sides are deadlocked, I coughed gently and said, “I admit that what Mr. Jiang said was true. I was childish, didn't understand respect you. If there is anything I offended you, I hope you can give me a chance to correct mistakes, please."

I bowed deeply, and all eyes fell on me. Mayor Chang smiled, and Jacob Jiang's face softened a little. Only John looked as if he wanted to give me a beating.

Mayor Chang nodded and said, “Well, now Justin has showed his attitude, John, it is your turn."

John rolled his eyes and said coldly, “Just an apology? Tell me about my son first!"

Mentioning Housin, I thought of the dead Grace, my face distorted. I was breathing heavily. If I forgave Housin, I would be guilty to Grace!

The room was silent as everyone waited for my answer, and in those few seconds I felt like I had walked through hell, my soul burnt to ashes by the flames of hell.

I slowly raised my head to have a vacant look at the three people present. Jiang brothers were sneering. Mayor Chang's eyes were full of anticipation.

Looking at him, I slowly return to the soul, I deeply drew a breath, and lightly said, “I will not pursue it in the future."

The two brothers finally showed a satisfied smile. Jacob Jiang turned his head and asked the mayor, "What do you say, Mayer Chang?"

Mayor Chang said coldly, “Since Justin will not pursue, I will release him tomorrow. What do you say about the business district?"

"Oh, well, I think Justin is very good. The grapevine news is all false. He will take this project, and I am very relieved." said Jacob Jiang lightly.

"Well, now that everything is settled, let's have a glass of wine and reunite. Justin, give everyone a toast." Mayor Chang said lightly.

"Yes, Mayor Chang." I said with a numb face, and went over to fill the four glasses on the table with wine. No one knew my humiliation and pain.

This was an interest exchange. I used the death of Grace traded the future for me and Ben. I was a bastard.

As if aware of my abnormal situation, Mayor Chang picked up his wine glass and patted me gently on the shoulder. "Young man," he said, "You can't take a step back from the sky before standing the calm for a while. Take it easy.”

With a slight nod, I bumped into Mayor Chang's glass and emptied it with a tilt of my neck.

I felt a little crazy like being stabbed at my chest and didn’t bother about disguise.

I poured myself a glass of wine and raised my glass to Jacob Jiang, saying, "Mayor Jiang, thank you for showing mercy to me and my friend. I will repay you later for your kindness."

Then, before he could speak, I drank up the wine.
