Lenny and Scarlett novel Chapter 46

Scarlet got in Marlon's car and told him her address.

They kept silent the entire trip. The air conditioner was on in the car. The atmosphere was warm and harmonious.

Scarlet looked out the window while Marlon watched her out of the corner of his eye.

Soon, they arrived at their destination. Scarlet got out of the car in a hurry and bowed to Marlon to express her gratitude.

"Thank you, Mr. Smith."

"You're welcome. Come to my office tomorrow. I'll sort out some documents for you."

"Okay, I will."

At school, Scarlet attended Marlon's class. It was a full house, and all the students were excited to learn.

On weekends, she worked as Marlon's assistant, doing some trivial chores but learning a lot.

The first set of sample clothes had been successfully made. The client needed to try them on to make sure that the fit was just right.

Marlon had to go to another school to give a lecture in the afternoon, so this task was assigned to Scarlet.

She couldn't refuse. But fortunately, Marlon asked Evie to accompany her just to make sure that she had some backup if she ever needed it.

Scarlet and Evie then went to the Foster Group. As soon as they saw Lenny, Evie took the clothes and warmly smiled at him.

"Hello, Mr. Foster. Your customized clothes are ready. We need you to try them on to see if they fit. Can you spare some time for us?"

"Okay, but I want her to assist me."

Raising his eyebrows, Lenny looked at Scarlet. He didn't like strange women to be so close to him.

As for Scarlet, he seemed to have adapted to her being close to him.

Evie immediately said, "She's new at the studio, Mr. Foster, and isn't all that familiar with standard procedures yet. I don't want her to make you feel uncomfortable. I think..."

"Didn't you hear what I just said?"

Losing his patience, Lenny snapped at Evie and looked at her unhappily.

Evie's smile suddenly vanished. She had no choice but to step back and hand the clothes to Scarlet.

When their eyes met, Scarlet felt the hatred behind Evie's stare.

She felt helpless. Lenny's words revived Evie's old hatred for her.

"Scarlet, Mr. Foster wants you to assist him. Why are you still standing here?" Evie spoke through gritted teeth.

Holding the clothes to her chest, Scarlet walked up to Lenny, carefully unwrapped the package, and helped him change into the suit jacket.

Suddenly, Lenny frowned and immediately took off the suit jacket.

Blood seeped through the back of his white shirt.

It turned out that there was still a pin on the newly made clothes.

"I'm so sorry," Scarlet apologized immediately.

"What are you doing? Haven't you checked it carefully?" Seizing the opportunity to intervene, Evie suddenly stepped forward and shoved Scarlet out of her way.

Scarlet staggered back a few steps and bumped into the desk.

Fortunately, she didn't hit her belly on the desk. But her back took the brunt of the impact. The pain made her gasp.

"My apologies, Mr. Foster. It's our employee's personal fault. I'll talk to her when we head back to the studio. Are you okay? Do you need medical attention?"

In her nervousness, Evie said a lot, but to her surprise, Lenny ignored her and rushed to Scarlet.

"Are you all right?"

"I'm... I'm fine."

Her little face was pale, and her forehead was covered in sweat. She rubbed her lower back with one hand. Instead of crying out, she just said that she was fine.

Lenny couldn't help frowning at her reaction.

"I'm sorry. It's really my fault. I hope you can forgive me." She stood straight. She was willing to take responsibility for her mistake. "I should've checked the clothes before letting you try them on. My team has nothing to do with my error. If you're angry and want to punish me, I can resign and compensate you. But please don't blame my colleagues."

As one of the most powerful men in Wellholt, Lenny could decide anybody's fate by just saying a few words.

Scarlet didn't want to be the reason that Lenny decided to vent his anger on Marlon's studio.

"Mr. Foster, I will ask our boss to fire her. Please don't be angry."

Now, Evie had finally found a good reason to get Scarlet kicked out of the studio.

"There's no need for that. It's not all her fault. I should've inspected the jacket myself first before putting it on."

Upon hearing Lenny's words, Evie was stunned.

Was he defending Scarlet? Why would he do such a thing?
