Chapter 1237: Harold Jefferson's Sister

"Let's go, check it out!" Chris Shelby led Tiger and the others out. They arrived near the underground pit that Peterson Abernathy and his men had excavated.

Boom! Boom! Boom! A series of earth-shattering explosions resounded continuously. The entire underground pit seemed to explode like a bomb, sending up a mushroom cloud. Even Chris Shelby was shocked by the sight. In an instant, the whole underground pit collapsed. The ancient tomb was completely gone.

Seeing this, Chris Shelby and his men couldn't help but feel a lingering fear. If they had still been in the tomb, they would have been buried alive. Chris Shelby knew that the collapse of the ancient tomb was because he had taken the House of Rainstorms. Without it, a huge space was left underground, causing the entire tomb to collapse under external pressure.

Tiger, with his mouth wide open in shock, asked, "Boss, what on earth happened?" Chris Shelby did not answer and simply waved his hand, saying, "Alright, let's go back!" The collapse of the ancient tomb was a good thing. At least for Jefferson Village, it meant peace would return.

Back at Harold Jefferson's house, Peter Jefferson was still there recuperating from his injuries. Chris Shelby looked at Peter Jefferson and said, "Peter, things here are settled. We need to leave now." Peter Jefferson nodded; he knew Chris Shelby must have obtained the Dragon Emblem scroll.

Harold Jefferson asked in surprise, "Mr. Shelby, are you leaving so soon? Can't you stay a few more days?" Chris Shelby shook his head and said, "No! The Abernathy family has left, and Jefferson Village is peaceful again. There's no reason for me to stay."

"Mr. Shelby..." Harold Jefferson wanted to say something but was stopped by Peter Jefferson. Peter looked at Chris Shelby and said, "Chris Shelby, although I don't know what you experienced underground, I know you got what you wanted. It's good that you're leaving now. However, I have a favor to ask."

Chris Shelby knew that although Peter hadn't asked directly, he understood everything clearly. Curious, he asked, "What do you need my help with? If it's within my power, I'll do it."

Peter glanced at Harold and said, "Harold is my only disciple and the only hope for Jefferson Village. Staying here would be a waste of time for him. I want him to leave with you so that you can take care of him."

"Peter, I don't want to leave; I want to stay here and take care of you!" Harold said anxiously.

"You fool!" Peter scolded. "What good will staying in Jefferson Village do? It's just a small village; staying here would be a waste of time. Following Chris Shelby will give you a bright future."

"But..."

"No buts! This is my decision. If you dare refuse, then you're no longer my disciple!" Seeing Peter's firm stance, Harold had no choice but to agree.

Chris Shelby understood that Peter was doing this for Harold's own good. Staying in Jefferson Village would lead nowhere for Harold; following him would offer better opportunities.

"Peter, don't worry; I'll take good care of Harold," Chris Shelby assured.

Relieved by his agreement, Peter said tiredly, "Alright then, you should leave now; it's getting late." Chris took a deep look at Peter Jefferson and noticed how much older he seemed now than before; perhaps he didn't have much time left.

"Peter, we're leaving," Chris said as he bowed deeply before turning to leave.

Harold looked back at Peter with reluctance but ultimately followed Chris Shelby because he knew that this was all for his own good.

Watching them leave, Peter sighed and murmured to himself, "Chris Shelby, maybe by the time you return next time, I won't be here anymore..." Time waits for no one; although Peter was a centenarian without breaking through the third stage of martial arts mastery, he couldn't escape his fate.

Rumble! Chris Shelby led Tiger and hundreds of royal guards in dozens of vehicles as they departed from Jefferson Village in grand fashion. This trip had cost them dearly with two to three hundred casualties among the royal guards but yielded great rewards: the Dragon Emblem scrolls and numerous treasures including the House of Rainstorms and Prince Felix's legacy.
