Chapter 148 Who’s The Bully?

Clarissa thought, ‘Madelynn’s probably enticing me to watch the contents inside the USB.’

At this point, Clarissa could guess what was in the USB. It was probably a sex scene starring Madelynn and Damien. Obviously, Madelynn was trying to start an argument between the two of them.

Knowing that, Clarissa wouldn’t just dive straight into her trap.

When she got off work, she told Damien all about it.

“Are you sure you don’t want to look into it?”

“I’m not interested. It’s all in the past anyway,” Clarissa said with a disinterested tone, looking out of the window.

At this moment, Damien’s phone rang. He quickly picked it up

Clarissa listened to his conversation. Apparently, Damien wanted HR to vacate a position and get ready with the new hire’s onboarding process.

“Is our company hiring new employees?” Clarissa asked after he hung up.

“Yes, we‘ve hired a new Finance Director.”

“Who is it?” Clarissa prodded.

“He’s my underclassman, Ray Conrad. He studied Economics and recently graduated from The University of Chicago with flying colors.”

Disappointed that they didn’t hire Rebecca, Clarissa simply nodded.

“I never thought you’d choose someone you know,” Clarissa hinted.

“What do you mean by that?” Damien asked.

Even though Clarissa didn’t voice her intentions out loud, Damien could still sense her dissatisfaction.

“It’s nothing, just saying.” Feeling guilty, Clarissa felt that she was somehow responsible for Rebecca’s resignation.

“Aren’t you going back to the villa today? Aren’t you worried about leaving Grandpa at home alone?

“Are you trying to guilt-trip me?”

“Who am I to guilt-trip you?” In the past, Clarissa didn’t get to see Damien a lot in the company. The only thing she knew was that Damian was an important part of the company. Now that she had seen his way of doing things, she felt intimidated and wouldn’t dare to provoke him even further.

“You have more power than you thought,” Damien said while driving towards Theresa’s place.
