Love in Twilight novel (Clarissa and Damien) novel Chapter 175

Chapter 175 Don’t Have the Guts?

“This is the money you gave me before. I still owe you 930 thousand dollars,” Clarissa said.

Damien put the card aside. “What do you mean by this? Do you want to end the contract?”

“No. Anyway, Grandpa’s sick, so we can’t end it. My mother found out about our contract marriage, and she told me to give the money back to you. She said that a person’s feelings are very precious, and they can’t be measured using money. I don’t want the rest of the money.” Clarissa sat down on the bed and wrapped her arms around her knees. She lowered her head and laughed, and then said, “I might be dirt-poor compared to you, but I still have feelings at the very least. Don’t l?”

As she laughed, she suddenly started to cry.

“So, everything you gave up is just going to go to waste? You used to be a virgin, and now… Don’t you regret it?” Damien asked.

“My mom’s right. I have to retain the last of my dignity when we get divorced. At least…”

“At least what?” Damien lit a cigarette.

“At least I got to know you when I was innocent and naive.” Clarissa laughed again.

Damien’s hand stilled. “You’re going to act like you don’t know me because you’re not with

me?”

“Not like this. To me, you’re the almighty president of a corporation. There’s no way anything would’ve happened between us. I’ve never regretted getting to know you, though. In fact, I felt quite happy some time ago.”

“Some time ago? When?” Damien took a drag of his cigarette and leaned against the bed.

His torso was bare. He turned to look at Clarissa, and they chatted while sitting on the bed.

“Well… Before the thing with Joseph happened. I thought you were a good person, and I even thought it’d be rather cruel for us to get divorced. I didn’t want to leave you,” she said sincerely.

She looked pitiful, with the way she was forcing a smile through her tears.

“You know now, don’t you? Didn’t you already eavesdrop on our conversation?” he asked.

“I still can’t quite see through you.”

“Continue looking, then.” He gazed at her, his tone a little teasing. There was also a hint of seriousness to his words.

“Everyone hopes they can be with their partner forever when they get married. Our situation, though…” Clarissa looked like she was one step away from giving up. “Anyway, you don’t like me.”

“No, I don’t.”

Clarissa curled her lip. It’s fine if you don’t like me, but you don’t need to be so blunt about

“I know you like Madelynn.”

“No, it’s not her.” Damien was almost done with his cigarette. “You know that I had a cornea transplant, right? Before the operation, a girl would always wait for me in the pantry. I can’t forget the scent of sandalwood that was always on her.”

He stared at her.

‘Wait, isn’t that me?’

Was his true love actually her?

Clarissa turned to look into Damien’s eyes. She wanted to see whether he was lying.

Her heart was racing.

His appearance was bewitching; his sharp jaw, deep-set eyes, his Adam’s apple…

Clarissa even had the urge to kiss him.
