Reclaiming the CEO's Heart novel Chapter 183

Chapter 183 Unspoken Trust and Hidden Agendas

The thought flashed through Avery's mind momentarily, and soon, Jacob's disdainful face filled her thoughts.

She knew Jacob had ridiculed her countless times for being manipulative; it was very likely that speaking up now would only invite his scorn, as he might think she was trying to exonerate her father.

Moreover, speaking to Jacob without uncovering the truth first could alert the mastermind behind the scenes and lead to unexpected complications.

Therefore, she suppressed the thought once again.

Whether there was a mastermind or not didn't affect her relationship with Jacob. His infidelity was a fact.

Compared to before, Avery managed to keep her cool, responding dully.

With the answer she wanted, Avery's mind cleared even more.

She clutched Jacob's clothes tightly; uncovering the truth became the only thought sustaining her will to live.

"Thank you for calling 911."

"There's no need to look at the things of the past. Go to sleep."

Jacob thought Avery was just scared, and holding her, he fell into a deep sleep.

Strangely, Avery never mentioned Layla in front of him again, and the two seemed to have returned to their old ways.

But this was just a facade. When Jacob fell asleep, the docile Avery in his arms suddenly opened her eyes and shifted her body away, almost to the edge of the bed, unwilling to have any contact with him.

Jacob kept his word; the next morning, Avery was greeted by a familiar voice. "Wow, what a beautiful house. Randy, can you draw it with your paintbrush?"

The boy beside him timidly pulled at him. "On someone else's turf, you should restrain yourself. Don't forget how terrifying that person can be."

Before Avery could come downstairs, she ran down at the sound of this voice, and the boy's bright face appeared before her eyes.

"Avy!"

Avery hurried downstairs, her face a mixture of shock and joy. "How come you are here?"
