Reclaiming the CEO's Heart novel Chapter 190

Chapter 190 Unseen Courage

Avery had seen the body of an elderly family member who passed away, which was completely different from the tragically deceased body in front of her.

Even though she didn't get a clear look at Jane's face at that glance, Avery was still scared to the point of retching.

Frank patted her back to help her catch her breath. "Are you okay?"

"Sorry," Avery apologized.

"It's normal for people who haven't seen a body before, let alone one that has undergone cadaveric spasm. I understand."

"Why aren't you afraid?"

"You stop being afraid once you've seen enough," Frank said indifferently, his deep-set eyes harboring an elusive expression. "Besides, the living are more terrifying than the dead in this world."

Avery didn't know what this man had been through. He was only a few years older than her but was shrouded in mystery.

Such eyes could only belong to someone who had been tempered by hardship.

Perhaps she wasn't the only one who had suffered in this world. Avery overcame her fear inside and turned on the flashlight.

"I'll hold the light for you. You check quickly."

"Okay." Frank instructed softly, "Close your eyes and leave the rest to me."

To not delay the process, Avery quickly closed her eyes.

A hand was placed on her wrist, and Frank's voice came from beside her ear. "Excuse me."

He held her wrist and walked over to the corpse. In the cold room, the warmth of his hand was particularly intense.

Avery then heard the rustling sound, probably Frank taking off the corpse's trousers.

Fortunately, the trousers in the psychiatric hospital were loose, and he didn't need to use much force to pull them down.

Despite not seeing it, Avery could tell what he was doing.

She held the flashlight high.

"It's done," Frank reminded, "Don't open your eyes, and wait until I put the body back."
