Chapter 44 Escape

"Avery, do you know how miserable Grace was when you were being treated like a princess? I personally went to the mountain village where she used to live. It was desolate and impoverished. Most people couldn't even have a decent meal for three days. I heard she was originally bought to be a child bride, locked up like a dog in a woodshed since she was a child. She was a pampered little princess in the Hill family, but there, she had to work like an ox or a horse. Choked by his grip, Avery was unable to speak. A feeling of suffocation gradually crept in. She pushed against Jacob, tears streaming down her face, trying to awaken his reason.
