Chapter 192
Kevan waited by the door and yanked it open the moment the doorbell rang, giving Dylan a scare. “You’re alone? Where’s Larissa?” Dylan scanned the house with his neck outstretched and immediately spotted Larissa, who was waving at him from the middle of the living room. “Larissa’s here, so why did you summon me?” Dylan asked impatiently.
*Come in first, then we’ll talk.” Kevan wasn’t in a rush to explain, and he went into the study to grab a pen and paper. In the quick two minutes he was gone. Larissa pulled Dylan to her and told him the situation in a whisper. “Mr. Rogers is drunk and he thinks I’m the woman he has feelings for. Now he even wants to marry me.”
Dylan was one of the few who knew about the situation. After listening to Larissa’s explanation, he connected the dots and immediatel guessed what Kevan was up to. He had to admit that Kevan was very cu nning.
When Kevan came out of the study, Larissa and Dylan instantly sat upright and pretended as if nothing had happened. He handed the per and paper to Dylan and instructed, “Write a more formal letter of guarantee in Lari’s perspective guaranteeing that she will get engaged with me at the City Hall tomorrow. If she fails to keep her promise, then she will be at my disposal
When it came to her fate, Larissa couldn’t help but interrupt, saying, “Isn’t the phrase “be at your disposal” too vague? What if you do something illegal?*
“Then what do you want to change it to?” Kevan sounded like he was asking for her opinion, but his downtumed lips and icy gaze showed his displeasure. Larissa actually wasn’t brave enough to say another word at that moment. Dylan grabbed her arm, but he shifted his grip onto her sleeve when Kevan shot him a chilly glare. “Wait here for a moment. I need to say a few things to Larissa’ said Dylan.
This time, Kevan agreed right off the bat. “Go ahead.” Larissa was still in a daze when she followed Dylan out onto the balcony. “What do you want to tell me?” she asked. Dylan shut the glass doors of the balcony tightly so that their voices wouldn’t carry into the living room to
Kevan.
“Let me tell you something.” Dylan put on a bitter expression and said, “Kevan’s alcohol tolerance is really low. He’s very annoying whenever he’s drunk. I’m sure you know how bossy and narcissistic he usually is, but once he’s drunk, he can be a hundred times more narcissistic and bossy. He’s just like a child who won’t give up until he gets what he wants.”
Dylan was Kevan’s best friend who had been with him for a long time. He had seen all the different sides of Kevan, so his words were
reliable.
*Then what should we do now?” Larissa asked anxiously. According to what Dylan told her, she must sign the letter of guarantee that night, or Kevan would never give up. However, if she really signed it …
Dylan naturally knew what she was worried about. “Just go ahead and sign it. It’s okay.” He wanted to pat her on the shoulder, but the palpable stare fixed on his back made him drop his hand. “There’s actually a bright side to him being drunk. He won’t remember anything
he did or what others did to him. So…” He smiled cun ningly as he continued speaking. “If you come across another incident like this, just
scold him, hit him, and scold him. Vent all the anger you’ve pent up toward him all at once. The same goes with your anger over other
issues.”
He had obviously done it many times before. “As for the letter of guarantee, I’ll write it according to his instructions, and you just have to sign it. We’ll pacify him first, then I’ll get rid of any evidence of the letter when he doesn’t notice. Then we’ll act like this never happened. But, even if he keeps the letter and recalls what happened tonight, it’s okay. You already said that he just thinks you’re the woman he
loves, so he won’t force you to marry him.”
