Chapter 207
Xavier was away for work, attending a New Year’s event hosted by a TV station.
Since he would only retum tomorrow, Yvette Invited the Cole family to spend the night at Seymour Mansion.
Naturally, they were allocated quest rooms on the third floor. Reuben was deliberately given a room across from Larissa’s.
Before going to bed, the household staff presented each quest with some hot milk and a fruit salad, including Larissa.
However, Larissa had already washed up and brushed her teeth, so the food was left untouched on her desk.
She remembered Reuben’s warning and locked her door. Turning off the lights, she lay down on the bed.
No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t fall asleep.
Reuben wouldn’t have said those things without reason.
Considering he told her to lock the door, did it mean that someone would break into her room at night?
This thought frightened Larissa.
Perking up her ears, she listened intently to any peculiar sounds outside her door.
Hours later, there was a knock at her door. It was very soft, as if the person didn’t want to wake her up.
Larissa checked the alarm clock beside her bed. It was two in the morning.
Biting her lip, Larissa didn’t respond.
After the knocking sound stopped, she heard the sound of her doorknob being turned subsequently.
When the door failed to open as expected, the person behind the door cursed in a low voice. “Damn it!”
Larissa recognized that it was Dorian’s voice.
She was further mystified by this revelation.
How did Reuben know that Dorian would sneak into her room at night?
Was this part of the plan concocted by both families? But why?
Didn’t they want her to marry Reuben?
“What’s going on? another voice spoke up. It was Jay.
“The door is locked,” Dorian replied bitterly.
“How could it be?” Yvette exclaimed in surprise..
“Larissa never locks the door at night when she sleeps.”
As more and more people gathered outside her door, Larissa was overwhelmed with lear and despair.
“I’ll have someone fetch the key.” Yvette said.
Larissa couldn’t sit still any longer.
Instead of waiting like a lamb to the slaughter, she’d rather confront them head-on.
She threw the covers off and got out of bed.
When she opened the door boldly, all three people standing outside were caught off guard.
“It’s so late at night, What are all of you doing at my door?”
With a wry smile on her face, Larissa glanced at each of them, satisfied with the panicked expression written on their faces.
Turning to Yvette, she said, “Mom, you’re not well. You should go to bed early and not stay up so late.”
Yvette avoided her gaze and nodded sheepishly. “Alright, I’ll go to bed right now.”

She quickly escaped the scene by going into her room, leaving Jay and Dorian behind.
Jay appeared discomfited, but he managed to regain his composure quickly, unlike Yvette.
“I felt thirsty in the middle of the night, that’s why I got up to get some water. Unexpectedly, I ran into Dorian here,” he said, gesturing to
Dorian with his eyes.
Dorian played along, saying. “Yeah, I got up to drink water as well”
However, his roaming eyes never left Larissa’s figure.
Larissa’s smile became wider. “What a coincidence for both of you to go the wrong way! The steps leading downstairs are in the opposite
direction of my room.”
Increasingly embarrassed, Jay thought of another excuse. “Both Dorian and I have a

a poor sense of direction.”
The nanny who had helped her in the past was dismissed long ago by the Seymour family.
Even if Larissa stood on the side of reason, she couldn’t be too pushy with her retaliation, lest they decide to take extreme action against
her.
She pretended to believe Jay’s words.
“Let me go downstairs. I’ll pour you a glass of water so that you won’t accidentally lose your way again.”
“There’s no need Jay stopped her. “Go to sleep, don’t worry about us.”
“Alright.” Larissa went along with his request “Goodnight. Mr. Cole.”
