The Charming Ex-Wife (Lysander and Josiah) novel Chapter 116

Chapter 116 I Have No Husband

Harry’s face fell immediately, and he waved his hands in haste. “No, that’s not what I meant. Perhaps I misspoke. Lysander, please don’t misunderstand.”

“What are you afraid of her for? She’s just a high school classmate, not your high school principal. Why do you act like a mouse who’s seen a cat whenever you encounter her?” Lysanne looked at Harry with a disdainful gaze. “And you’re the general manager? Josiah despises nothing more than your kind of spineless behavior.”

This remark was indeed directed at Harry.

Harry could only respond with a smile, trying to appease Lysanne. “How could that be? I’m merely being polite. Jane, we’ve been friends for so many years, and now you’re Mrs. Guerra. As a long-time. friend, I hope you can put in a good word for me with Mr. Guerra about our collaboration this time…”

Only then did Lysanne feel her pride was restored. She held her chin high as she continued to tease Harry. “We’ve been friends for so many years, I don’t mind speaking up for you. But whether Josiah will listen or not, I can’t guarantee.”

Harry laughed as he playfully teased her, “That’s impossible. Everyone in Harborbrook knows that Mr. Guerra spoils his wife the most. He listens to whatever she says.”

Η

ading rumors,

After hearing these words, a contented smile graced Lysanne’s face. “Who’s been spreading making me sound like a demanding wife?”,

“How could that be? Mr. Guerra values you greatly, so he can’t bear to see you suffer the slightest injustice.”

Harry buttered Lysanne up, and the latter basked in the joy of having a lapdog. By the time they snapped back to reality, there was no one left in front of them.

Harry was somewhat worried. “She wouldn’t actually go and spout off to Mr. Guerra, would she?”

Lysanne scoffed. “She wouldn’t dare.”

“Why did she leave so quickly?”

“I guess she couldn’t bear to hear any more. Really, you should know better. Josiah left her because of me, and yet you insist on telling her how much Josiah loves me. Isn’t that like twisting a knife in her heart?”

With a smile, Harry said, “It’s my fault, it’s my fault. After all, we’re old classmates. I should have considered her feelings.”

Lysanne cast him a glance. “Don’t worry about Josiah, I’m confident I can handle him. But you should be more cautious with your father-in-law. I’ve heard from others that he holds Lysander in high regard. If she says something to him, your position as the hospital director’s son-in-law might not be so

secure.”

Unon hearing those words. Harry couldn’t help but chuckle. “He wouldn’t dare.”

Lysanne became intrigued. “So, do you have leverage over your father-in-law?”

“His daughter, and his grandchild, aren’t they both my best pawn?” Harry said, “He only has this one daughter, who will spend the rest of her life with me. Any children she has will carry my surname. So, he has to be cordial with me, for the sake of his daughter and grandchild.”

Lysander emerged from the supermarket, carrying two large bags of items.
