Maverick’s previously furrowed brows relaxed considerably after he resolved a significant worry, and his voice also became noticeably lighter. “If you’re feeling pressured, don’t force yourself. I don’t want to compel you to live life the way I’ve dictated. All I hope for is that you don’t let anyone dictate your moral compass. What matters most is doing what you love and what you’re willing to do. Since you’ve made your decision, know that I’m fully behind you.” 

As he spoke, he couldn’t help but raise his hand to rub the corner of his eye. He was determined to maintain his dignity at all costs, fearing the embarrassment of shedding tears in front of his daughter as a grown man. 

Lysander didn’t concern herself with all these details. She immediately gave him a hug. “Thank you, Dad.”

Howard nodded repeatedly. “Maverick, about this matter, I made up my mind long ago. Even the division of property has been arranged by a lawyer. If you’re not at ease, I can show you the documents.”
