The Charming Ex-Wife (Lysander and Josiah) novel Chapter 91

Chapter 91 I’m Sorry

The entire page was filled with the words ‘I’m sorry, but there was nothing else in the pages afterward. They were all blank.

He double-checked several times, only to discover that the pages at the back had been torn out, leaving behind the edges of the torn-out paper. It was messy and chaotic, clearly torn when that person was emotional. There was no order whatsoever.

Josiah was eager to know what Lysander had written.

He picked up the notebook and brought it closer to the light. The dim glow of the night lamp revealed faint marks on the blank pages at the back.

Those were traces left by handwriting!

He immediately grabbed the hotel phone and called the receptionist. “Bring me a pencil right away!”

The staff didn’t dare to delay and quickly brought one up.

Josiah placed the pencil down and gently swept it across the paper, revealing the words gradually.

There were no intense words.

Just three words: I’m sorry.

Written all over the entire page.

A huge sense of powerlessness and pain engulfed him.

Was this the day she had made up her mind to abort the pregnancy?

She had been on the balcony, overhearing the conversation between Lysanne and him. Just as she had said, from the first day Lysanne appeared, she keenly sensed something different.

During those days when the three of them were together, she was Mrs. Guerra, but she watched as Lysanne repeatedly tested the boundaries of friendship, forcefully intruding into her life, repeatedly telling her: in their world of three, Lysander was the qutsider.

She had also tried to fight for herself, until the day she heard Lysanne talk about those things.

How did Lysander spend that night? Did she sit in a daze feeling desolate until dawn, or did she struggle internally, engaging in mental conflict?

She must have lain on the bed he was lying on, tossing and turning, unable to sleep at night. In the end, she made a decision, and then cried as she wrote countless apologies.

Josiah closed the diary and covered his face with his hands.

Ring, ring.

He picked up. It was the receptionist. “Mr. Guerra, Miss Thorne just called to ask if you are here.”

He was still in a daze, and he repeated, “Miss Thorne?”

The receptionist thought he was unhappy with the way she was addressed, and immediately corrected herself. “Oh, I’m sorry. It’s the madam.”

Josiah realized it was Lysanne.

“She’s not the madam,” Josiah said. “How did you respond?”

The receptionist heard the change in his tone and her voice softened. “She’s very angry, I didn’t dare to lic, so I told her.”

“What did she say?”

“She asked me to tell you that she will be here soon, and when she arrives, she wants a reasonable explanation. Otherwise, she won’t let this go.”

Josiah sneered, “What explanation does she want?”

“She didn’t say. Maybe because you never answer her calls.”

Josiah noticed something unusual. “Did you cry?”

“No, no, the receptionist sniffed. “I really didn’t.”

“Did she scold you?”

She stayed silent.

Josiah furrowed his brow and sat up. “What else did she say?”

“Mr. Guerra…” The girl couldn’t hold back and started crying. “Please, please call her back. She said if you don’t call her back within three minutes, she will she will fire me.”

Josiah felt angry after hearing this. “You’re an employee of Guerra Group and I haven’t even said anything, so what right does she have to fire you?”

“But you always listen to her in everything! She is your wife, and I’m just a worker. If she insists on firing me, you wouldn’t argue with your wife for the sake of a small employee like me, right…”

Josiah clenched his fist.

“Mr. Guerra, please. I really need this job. My sister is still in college and I have to support her…”

“Alright, now. Don’t worry. I have the final say in Guerra Group, and no one will fire you. Just concentrate on your work.”

“Yes, Mr. Guerra.”
