The Good Girl's Revenge novel Chapter 20

Unexpectedly, they were acquaintances.

Meredith was sulky and she wasn't willing to talk to them. They were none other than Clara and her niece Lily.

In those days, Clara succeeded in marrying her father, which brought great benefit for Clara's family. Lily had ground her down to display friendliness to Clara when she was racked with pain.

What a coincidence! She bumped into them here.

"Meredith?" Clara was surprised to see her.

Wasn't Meredith supposed to suffer in the Xaviers? Shouldn't she be limbless? Why was her face ruddy and shiny, and she looked much better than the day she left. She didn't look like she had been tortured at all.

After Meredith returned to the Xaviers, Clara cursed her to die there every day, so her daughter could live a carefree life.

Now, seeing Meredith was alive and well, she felt suppressed in her heart and was uncomfortable.

"Why are you here?" Lily thought Meredith was still in prison, asking in an arrogant tone.

"You can be here, why can't I?" Meredith replied bluntly.

Lily could come. Why couldn't she?

"You thought you were the eldest Miss of the Masons?" Lily was very angry. What she hated the most was Meredith's arrogant and calm expression. She was just a prisoner, so how could she have the guts to throw her weight about?

"What difference whether I am a miss or not? I come here to buy something. If I can afford it, does my family background matter?"

Meredith turned around to look at the shop assistant, who was watching the show, "Excuse me. I took a fancy to this dress first. Please ask them to return it to me."

Meredith wasn't going to argue with anyone. It was just a dress. But seeing Lily's aggressive manner, she didn't want to tolerate it anymore.

"Can you afford it?" Lily sneered. Clara couldn't help but smile, but she put on a gentle and generous expression, "What nonsense, Mer, you just got out of prison. How can you get money to buy such expensive clothes?"

The last time, Wesley gave Meredith a check which was torn up by Meredith on the spot. If Meredith wanted to be in a pit of pique, she wouldn't mind making a fool of herself so Meredith would recognize her current identity.

The shop assistant was still hesitating because Meredith looked too calm, and she didn't dare to offend her. However, when she heard Clara say she had gone to prison, she expression changed immediately.

"I'm sorry, Miss. I saw that these two ladies got it first. Why don't you go somewhere else?"

Women, who had gone to prison, must not be easy to be trifled with or didn't have much money. So the shopping assistant decided to chase Meredith out.

"I didn't know that your shop has a rule of turning away guests." Meredith glanced at her coldly. Now she saw what a damned snob was.

"Hmph, how can you be a guest if you can't afford to buy anything? It would be done if any important people could ruin the guests' mood." Lily said sarcastically.

Clara saw this and tried to make up for it with a smile, "Mer, we take a fancy to this dress first. Well, I'll buy you something else to make it up for you, and show my heart."

"Auntie, you are too kind!"

Meredith looked coldly at the two who were showing in front of her, and she laughed coldly in her heart. They were working well together, with one coaxing and the other coercing.

Without saying any words, Meredith took out the black card, the man gave her, from her pocket and said, "Well, can't I buy anything with this card?"

The shop assistant's disdainful expression was frozen. She took the card over and checked all the counterfeit marks with her eyes wide open, it was real.

Moreover, this was a limited global black card of Citibank, the annual fee of which was hundreds of thousands of dollars. And the average rich person may not be able to get it. She had been working for several years, and this was the first time she had seen it!

Didn't she misunderstand this woman, who actually was a hidden bigwig?

Not daring to neglect, the shop assistant's attitude took a sudden reversal. She took the clothes over and respectfully presented them with both hands, "Miss, do you want to try on this dress?"

Meredith didn't say anything. She took a glance at the two women's embarrassed faces. After a long time, she said, "Okay."

"Then I'll take you to the fitting room."

The shop assistant led Meredith over politely. They only took a few steps, Lily called out to her angrily. "How can you get this card? Can you state clearly which old man did you lie to get it?"
