Chapter 215 Agreed to Go to the Old Mansion

He squinted his attractive eyes, spoke in a slightly magnetic tone, “If you don’t curse me, I might not be too bad.”

Hehe!

Wasn’t it said to be a concussion? How come it looks fine?

Seeing that he was fine and there was no major issue, I said, “If you’re okay, I have things to do, so I’ll leave first.”

Just as I was about to leave, the man blocked my way. I looked up at him, frowning. “Is there anything else?”

He looked down at me, his voice sounding incredibly pleasant, “Grandma was discharged from the hospital today, I have to go pick her up in a bit. If she asks about this injury, what should I tell her?”

I frowned, feeling displeased in my heart, but I held it in, patiently saying, “Just tell me what you want me to do.”

Seeing my impatience, he wisely backed off and said, “Accompany me to pick up grandma from the hospital and move to the old house.”

“I could accompany you to pick up grandma from the hospital, but as for living in the old house, I’ve told you, we’re already divorced. Grandma will have to know about some things sooner or later.” I really didn’t understand why he had to make things so complicated when it could have been explained in one sentence.

He squinted his eyes, didn’t respond, but instead fell silent for a while before suddenly saying indifferently, “Since you don’t want to go, then go about your business.”

After speaking, the tall and broad figure turned and left directly. I was stunned for a moment, frowning involuntarily. Did this person just agree so easily?

Watching him walk away, all that was left for me was a bandaged back of the head. I pursed my lips, didn’t think much, and left the hospital.

Downstairs at the hospital, I had just started the car.

The phone rang, it was a call from the old lady of the Hinton family.

I answered the phone and, out of politeness, I began, “Grandma, are you feeling better?”

The voice of the old lady came from the other end of the phone, “Much better, I can be discharged today, Tabatha, what are you busy with now? Walter said you just came to the hospital and left, did you have a fight with Walter?”

I said earlier, wondering why Walter suddenly left. It turned out he went to see the old lady.

I moistened my lips, suppressing the urge to criticize the man. After a moment of thought, I said, “No, I didn’t argue with him. I just have some things to take care of. Grandma, I’m sorry, I might not be able to come pick you up from the hospital today.”

“It’s okay, it’s okay, you go about your business, I’m fine.” The old lady repeated I’m fine’ several times, paused and said, “Tabatha, when you’re done with your work, come back to the old house for dinner. I’ve arranged for Dale to tidy up the yard. It will be livelier when you both come back in the evening, okay?”

The old lady’s tone was soft, and it wasn’t hard to detect the pleading in her voice. I was never good at refusing people, so I could only respond with a hum over the phone.

The phone call ended, and I had a bit of a headache. At this point, having agreed to go to the Hinton family with the old lady, I was afraid I would be expected to live in the old house, seeing Walter all the time, and even sharing a bed with him.

Already divorced, yet still entangled like this, it increasingly annoys

Taking a deep breath, I couldn’t think of a way to refuse for a moment. The old lady had just been discharged from the hospital, and I couldn’t guarantee whether she would get sick because of me if I messed up. I’m not a good person, but I don’t want to be such a bad person either.

Although feeling frustrated inside, I could only take one step at a time for the moment.

Feeling empty, I drove away from the hospital and went to Rachel’s apartment.

Having been out all night, I was immediately hit by a strong, pungent smell of alcohol as soon as I pushed the door open, causing me to cough uncontrollably. After suppressing my cough, I looked around. The food I had prepared before leaving yesterday was still untouched on the dining table. There were quite a few bottles of alcohol on the coffee table in the living room, and Rachel was sprawled out on the sofa.

Clearly, she had gotten herself drunk last night.
