Lost in Mr. Preston's Temptation novel Chapter 38

Clara returned the phone to Baxter. Just as she was about to drink some orange juice, the phone on the table lit up.

She had received a strange message.

“I am Ruby Leke, and I have evidence that Steve Lane killed your parents. If you want it, exchange it with me for 500,000 dollars.”

Upon seeing this message, Clara’s pupils suddenly contracted.

That day when she had gone to the hotel with Ethan, she had learned from what Ruby had said, that everything about her parents’ unexpected death had been handled by Ruby.

But last time, after Baxter had hacked into Ruby’s mobile phone and computer, she had him carefully search for that information to no avail.

And now, Ruby had taken the initiative to contact her.

Clara resisted the urgency to agree and replied, “How did you conclude that I can get 500,000 dollars? With this evidence, you can get much more than 500,000 dollars from Steve Lane.”

She didn’t believe that Ruby would seek her out if she had such crucial evidence against Steve.

Ruby responded “I know the man who was with you last night, Baxter Cohen, is Mr. Preston’s employee. I also know that you have built a relationship with Mr. Preston and seek to use him.”

Ruby continued “I know Steve Lane better than you. If he knows that I have something on him, he will definitely not spare me.”

Ruby “ As long as you give me 500,000 dollars and help me leave J city, I will not only give you the evidence, but will also testify against Steve Lane for you. “

Seeing that Clara hadn’t replied, Ruby sent two more messages.

Ruby, “See you at the Blue Coast Cafe at 11:30! if you don’t come, I’ll delete all the evidence!”

Ruby, “Those killed are not my own parents. You’re the one who hates Steve Lane the most.”

Clara was agitated by Ruby’s last message and quickly replied, “Okay, I will wait for you at the cafe.”

Based on the messages Ruby had sent, she felt that Ruby didn’t need to frame her.

She figured that Ruby and Steve had completely broken up, and that Ruby feared Steve would come after her to settle scores. Ruby knew that Clara was with Ethan Preston, and had power, so she came to use what she had to make a deal.

After replying to the message, Clara said to Baxter, “Ruby wants to see me. You’ll drive me there later.”

“She’s currently an internet celebrity, and she still dares to come out? “ Baxter thought there was something fishy going on. “Is she trying to get revenge on you? “

Clara smiled, “Don’t I have you? Are we two still afraid of her?”

“Madam has good eyes!” Baxter said proudly. “I’m telling you, I’m not only a hacker but also hold a ninth-degree black belt in Taekwondo!”

“Really?” Donny, standing on the side, asked frostily, “Then why couldn’t you protect Clara last night?”

Baxter’s expression fell in an instant. He rubbed the back of his head and groaned, “I just wanted to give Ethan a chance to be the hero saving the damsel in distress!”

“Heh!”

Seeing Donny’s serious face and the ridicule that popped out of his mouth, Clara couldn’t help but laugh.

At the same time, she was secretly worried about Ethan.

Was it really okay for him to go out so early and work with such a severe injury?

Because of last night’s car bomb, this time Baxter checked all the cars she was going to drive both outside and inside and confirmed that the anti-explosion system was on before letting Clara get in.

After arriving at the Blue Coast Cafe, Baxter waited in the car by the side of the road. Clara entered the cafe and picked a table by the window.

Then, she sent a message to Ruby.

Clara was wearing wireless earphones and kept a call with Baxter on all the time. After sitting for a while, it suddenly started raining outside.

“It’s eleven o’clock, why hasn’t Ruby arrived yet?” Baxter was waiting for movement around the road, but it was already 11 o’clock, and he hadn’t seen Ruby’s figure.

“It could be that there’s a traffic jam because of the rain,” Clara looked out the window, “We agreed to meet at 11:30, let’s wait a little longer...”
