Lost in Mr. Preston's Temptation novel Chapter 49

Baxter had applied to the technical and safety department, and his interview process was not as complicated as in Clara’s department. In the morning he had passed a technical test and had already finished his interview.

He wanted to wait for Clara to finish her interview in the afternoon and go with her to the hospital.

However, after the two came out of the restaurant after lunch. It didn’t take long for Baxter to receive a call from Donny, asking him for help.

So, he had to go work on the task assigned by Donny.

Clara took a break in the resting area and went to the exam with everyone else at two o’clock in the afternoon.

The EMC Group was big, and the interviews from different departments were held on different floors.

Because the interview process for the translation department was special, several meeting rooms on the twelfth floor were used by the translation department these days for interviews.

After the clerk read her name, Clara entered the designated examination room with the other interviewees.

After entering, Clara found that the room was arranged for a small meeting. A few men were sitting at the conference table, talking to the examiner in front of them.

Among the three examiners, one of them was Patricia whom Clara Rowan had met this morning.

Patricia didn’t seem to remember Clara. She greeted her just like everyone else with a nod.

After Clara entered the soundproof room, under the guise of helping her adjust the equipment, Patricia said, “The target language is English, and the exam questions are also quite simple. Don’t worry.”

“Can German be used as the target language instead? “ Clara asked.

“It’s certainly possible” Patricia was stunned but quickly said, “However, German is a bit awkward, and the other person will be translating to English. If she translates it more accurately, it would be bad for you...”

“Actually, I’m quite good at German and Spanish.” Clara smiled and said, “Don’t go easy on me. In the future, when I work with you, I’ll need your instruction.”

When Patricia heard this, her impression of Clara improved. “Do well on the exam!”

Patricia had been in the EMC Group for a long time and had become the second ranking person in the translation department. She was no pushover.

Before when Baxter had come to EMC to look for Donny, he had happened to run into her.

She asked the secretary department and found out that Baxter Cohen was Donny Cohen’s younger brother.

So, when she had happened upon Baxter at the restaurant that noon, and he had flirted with her, she had readily agreed to go easy on Clara. That way she could ask Donny for a favor in the future.

Since Clara didn’t want her help, well, that was her own choice.

The exam soon began.

In the past, when Clara and Steve had gone abroad to travel Clara would chat a little with the tourists they met from various countries. In addition, from time to time, she was sent by Steve Lane to help abroad, and her language skills had become increasingly fluent.

And since she was indeed better at German, this oral interpretation exam was going to be even easier than the written one.

What’s more, outside the soundproof room, everyone could see each other.

A long time later, an examiner took off his headphones with a shocked expression. “This is the first time I’ve met such a capable interpreter.”

The other two examiners besides Patricia, were not from the translation department.

They didn’t understand German, but they had watched the examination question videos an hour ago.

When Clara interpreted for the person reading the script, they would compare her interpretation to the German version of the videos. In the end, they were amazed by Clara’s translation speed, and accuracy.

Patricia was also shocked and even wanted to smile wryly.
