Lost in Mr. Preston's Temptation novel Chapter 75

She took her phone, walked to the window, found Ethan’s number, and dialed it. She waited patiently while looking at the garden.

About 10 seconds later someone picked up.

Clara just wanted to say something, but suddenly a woman’s gentle voice came from the other end of the phone, “Hello, who is it?”

This voice.... somehow felt a bit familiar.

“I’m looking for Mr. Preston” Clara knew that Ethan had to deal with many things, and she thought the person on the end was someone from the company, “Is Mr. Preston still busy?”

“No. “ The woman paused and said, “He’s eating at home.”

The woman’s sounded like she was laughing. Although her voice was gentle, Clara thought it sounded it as if she was declaring sovereignty and frowned.

In an instant, she understood. She said, “Excuse me” and then hung up the phone.

Ever since she had learned of Ethan’s identity and had agreed to this transactional marriage with him, Clara had known there were countless women by his side. He couldn’t possibly just have her his side.

Today’s phone call just proved her guess.

She had no right to interfere with Ethan’s relationships, but she still felt inexplicably uncomfortable when she saw other women around him.

“Young lady, are you done with the call?” Mae placed the soup on the dining table, then gave Clara a look. “When will he be coming back for dinner?”

Clara said sullenly, “He’s busy and won’t come back.”

When she came to the dining room for dinner, she felt that the mandarin fish on the table was an eyesore. She suddenly took it to the kitchen and poured into the trash.

Mae silently watched Clara’s actions and seemed to understand. She sighed silently.

On this weekend day, the sun was shining brightly.

Clara asked Mae and when she learned that Ethan hadn’t come back last night, she connected that to the women who had answered the phone, and her heart inexplicably sank.

Outside the villa, Baxter checked out the limited-edition Pagani and installed the anti-bomb system.

Seeing Clara coming out of the room, Baxter patted the roof of the car and raised an eyebrow at her. “Clara, since you don’t have anything to do today, why don’t you try the car?”

“Oh okay.” There was no emotion on Clara face as she came to get the car key from him.

Baxter glanced at her, “Clara, are you okay?”

“I’m fine.” Clara opened the car door and looked at him as she got into the car. “Are you getting in or not? If you don’t get in the car, I’ll drive out and try it by myself.”

“I’m coming! “ Hearing this, Baxter quickly got into the car.

Although Clara had bought a lot of luxury cars before, and some of them had been limited-edition sports cars, she had only bought them because they looked good, and she never liked how they felt.

However, the Pagani felt so good.

Clara sped down the asphalt. She opened the car roof, and the wind messed up her hair, and blew away the gloomy mist in her heart.

She had had a good time, but Baxter who was sitting in the passenger seat, shivered and held the armrest tightly.

“Ancestor, grandmother, mother... this is not a fucking super run, nor an SUV. Can you not drive so fast? “ For the first time, Baxter felt that sitting in a car was more terrifying than death.

“Tell me if you’re unhappy, I’ll take care of it for you!”

When they came to a traffic light, Clara stepped on the breaks and turned her head to look at Baxter, muttering, “I’m so skilled at driving, what are you afraid of?”

“No, I’m not afraid. I’m just amazed by Clara’s driving skills.” Baxter spoke with a serious expression. “You can try the new car out however you like. It’s fine if I die. However, you are the wife of a domineering CEO who is worth billions of dollars. I won’t allow you to get into an accident!”

Clara “...”

Just then, a taxi drove up on the right side of the Pagani.

As soon as the young woman sitting in the passenger seat saw Clara, her eyes immediately stuck to the glass as she examined her closely.
