Lost in Mr. Preston's Temptation novel Chapter 93

Baxter felt that there was sweat on his forehead. He touched it with his hand and moved his gaze away. “Sorry Clara, I let you think about unpleasant things.”

He knew all about Steve plan to have Clara leave with nothing.

“It’s all in the past.” Clara lowered her eyes and then quickly looked at him again. “I said it to stop you from overthinking things. If you insist on leaving, it means you don’t consider me a friend.”

Hearing Clara say that Baxter grinned, “You said so, how can I dare to go?”

After Clara saw him relieved, she also smiled.

The barrier between the two of them seemed to vanish as they exchanged glances.

Baxter took a pear from the fruit bowl and gnawed on it. He sat on the edge of the bed and told Clara, “I’ve been trying to restore Sharon’s mobile phone for the past two days. Those deleted chat records seem to have first been hacked into by others and implanted with a virus. Anytime I try to restore anything, my computer automatically gets wiped by that virus. “

“I don’t quite understand what you said. “ Clara rubbed her fingers against her chin, “But it is certain the person behind Sharon is in no way ordinary.”

Baxter hummed in agreement, his eyes narrowed slightly, “That person is a cruel character.”

“When my father was still alive, he was modest and humble. His reputation in the market was good, and he had almost no enemies in business. After my father died, the only one who wanted to get revenge against me was Steve,” Clara said. “I thought those things were all arranged by Steve, but later I found out that they weren’t.”

Clara was a little tired of standing, so she pulled out a chair at the table and sat down.

“Baxter, who do you think would be so cruel?” She looked at Baxter and put a hand on her lower jaw. “They wanted to use Sharon to destroy me!”

Baxter suddenly thought of a person and nibbled on a pear.

“This...” Baxter stammered and wanted to say something.

Clara suddenly handed the phone to him with a faint smile, “You already know about Delores Clayton’s marriage to Preston’s third eldest, right?”

Baxter glanced at her mobile phone and found that it really was a photo of Delores Clayton marrying Preston’s third eldest!

Seeing that Clara was so smart and knew everything, Baxter told her honestly, “I knew much earlier that the Preston’s third eldest and Delores Clayton had gotten married, but I’ve been working for Ethan abroad. I’ve hardly had contact with other people in the Preston family, and I’ve only seen Delores once. I didn’t expect that she was the third eldest’s wife.”

“Clara, I swear. Everything I said is true!” Baxter raised three fingers and pointed them at the ceiling.

“No need to swear, I believe you.” Clara shook her head.

If Baxter had known Delores Clayton, that day in the banquet hall, when she took out Delores’s Twitter to show Baxter, he would not have been so surprised.

Clara took back her phone and looked down at the photo. “Compared to this, I’d rather know something else. “
