The Charming Ex-Wife (Lysander and Josiah) novel Chapter 112

Chapter 112 Old Habits Die Hard

Josiah had visited the hospital quite a few times before, so the hospital director was familiar with him.

He chuckled affectionately. “You startled me with your suddenness.”

Only then did Josiah realize that he had lost his composure somewhat. With a hint of apology, he said, “Sorry. I was a bit distracted just now.”

“No worries, no worries,” Fred said, “Rest assured. Your wife’s medical skills are quite impressive. However, I really must apologize for the inconvenience today. Lysander, you should have told me your husband was coming too, so I could have arranged for someone to receive him.”

Lysander smiled lightly.

She scanned the surroundings, but there was no sign of Lysanne.

It seemed as though Josiah noticed her gaze and took the initiative to say, “She didn’t come

Lysander nodded.

In social gatherings with acquaintances, the greatest fear was failing to explain oneself clearly.

In the end, Josiah showed some semblance of a conscience, not parading Lysanne ostentatiously into the hospital.

Lysander was well-liked and had a good relationship with most of the medical staff in the hospital. They were all aware of Josiah’s existence. If Lysanne were to appear now, heavily pregnant and arm-in- arm with him, she truly wouldn’t know how to explain it.

Fred said, “I’m going to check on Priscilla.”

Lysander nodded. “You can go straight to the patients ward. I had Lynn take her there to rest.”

“Okay, okay. Great.”

The rest of the family and friends also took turns to express their gratitude to Lysander before following Fred.

Just moments ago, the area outside the operating room was bustling with activity Now, only familiar faces remained.

Daphne approached her, giving her a playful wink. “Did you really keep the baby?” she asked. “You know what kind of person Harry is. You’re essentially pushing a good girl into a pit of fire!”

With a sigh, Lysander started to remove her gloves as she spoke. “There was nothing I could do. She was adamant about keeping it. I had to respect the patient’s wishes.”

Daphne was utterly in disagreement. “What on earth is going on? Even someone like Harry is able to have a good girl who is willing to bear his child. And this girl, she’s the director’s daughter?”

“His only daughter, right?”

“Correct”

“I knew it! Oh, Harry, Harry, all these years and his tactics haven’t changed one bit, huh? Using the same trick to conquer the world? He’s always stepping on women to climb higher. Just you wait and see. When he finds a better branch to latch onto, my past will be this poor girl’s future.”

Lysander comforted, “After all these years, he might have changed, right?”

Daphne pursed her lips. “A leopard can’t change its spots. Do you really believe he’s changed?”

Lysander recalled the scene at the wedding banquet earlier today. Despite Priscilla’s physical condition, Harry insisted on dragging her along to mingle with Josiah. The memory sent a chill through her heart.

This was just the start of their marriage, and he was already treating her like this.

As time went on, the affection would gradually fade away. Or perhaps, as Daphne had suggested, he might move on to someone else. If so, the outcome for Priscilla would likely be even more tragic than Daphne’s because she had a child to consider.

After all, this was someone else’s life. Priscilla’s reluctance to part with her child was a natural maternal instinct. She had given her warning, and that was all she could do.
