Lysander was puzzled. “Is it that strong?”
She had been out in the cold wind for quite some time. What should have been a ten-minute walk turned into over half an hour.
Lysanne, like a little dog, sniffed around her.
When Laura saw this, she laughed and scolded, “Your sister’s tired from work. Don’t bother her. Come help me set the table.”
Lysanne ran to the kitchen barefoot.
She got scolded by Laura again.

Wearing reading glasses, Maverick walked out holding a notebook, muttering to himself.
Lysander asked, “Dad, are you taking notes while watching the news?”
Maverick glared at her. “You silly girl, today Mdm. Camila sent a lot of things-Macallan, Marlboro, and supplements. These are the betrothal gifts! I have to take notes to reciprocate properly in the future.”
Laura and Lysander came out with dishes, placing them on the dining table. Their faces were full of joy. “We’ve been friends for decades. We don’t need to fuss over such details.”
“It’s not about fussing or not fussing, it’s about showing attitude. Although our family is marrying off : daughter, we’re not greedy. No matter how many gifts the Powell family sends, I’ll give back the same value in return. The items might differ, but the total price mustn’t be lower. This is about giving face to our daughter. When Lysa gets married, we’ll stand firm!”
Michelle waved her hand. “Dad, I think you’re overthinking it. Mdm. Camila and Zachary just wanted to express their love for Lysander.”
“You’re still young, so you don’t understand. Lysander suffered last time. Their family is high in status. If there are rumors of infidelity, they believe it immediately, even to the point of divorce. We didn’t even get a chance to explain ourselves. This time, it won’t happen. I won’t let others look down on my daughter.”
After speaking, he added, “It will be the same for you then.”
Michelle pouted. “But what if I marry someone wealthy? Their gifts are worth tens or hundreds of thousands. We can’t afford that.”
Laura was handing out the cutlery and immediately hit her head. “You dare to try? Your head is much worse than Lysander’s. She already took a big tumble. You better not risk your life, got-it? It’s a no from

I cant get over the fact that the writer is trying to show as if the male lead has committed a grave sin. First he didnt know she was pregnant because she never told him. Second right from the start she never communicated anything. She was unbothered even during her marriage. I am not saying the male lead is great but atleast he seems like a human with emotions unlike her. And there is no context for why she is so emotionless....
The female lead is not charming but an unbothered b word, there is a very big difference. There is no point of extending this story at all because even if you write 1000+ chapters at 1001 the male lead would still be doing everything for her and she wouldnt bat an eye even if someone killed him. I mean honestly either the start should have been written better where we do understand that she was deeply affected because of her divorce or just STOPPPPP. Even for fiction it is annoying....
